-b limits the process to run only on Efficiency cores, which are much slower than Performance cores. Test run time is then 5 to 10 times slower.

-g is supposed to throttle IO, but I'm not sure if that actually works. Documentation for this is bad. There's man taskpolicy and some copies of that online. I also found one site that seems to be AI-generated and documents non-existing arguments 🙄

-c is for "QoS clamp", whatever that means.

I've been trying to reproduce flaky tests, that only fail on our CI system, locally. I suspect that the failures are related to the CI worker being on high load and tests with bad "timing" then fail.

I wrote this package.json script to run tests locally on an ARM Mac with limited resources, which somewhat helps:

"test-slow": "taskpolicy -b -g throttle -c maintenance node ./node_modules/jest/bin/jest.js -i --testTimeout=10000",

$ yarn test-slow SomeFlakyTest
