Since when does Youtube do that AI "automatic translation" thing as a default for some videos? I don't want a robot voice speaking bad German, I want the original video with the original English speaking person speaking English. (You need to go to settings and choose the original audio to get rid of the AI. Which is annoying.) Sigh.

Playing #TheExilePrinces and all my companions have deserted me because I couldn't pay their wages. Traitors! All you care about is money! :blobcatcry:

And yes, I'm chronically out of money in this game as I am IRL :blobcatgoogly: lol.

So I just stumbled upon this by chance and want to share it because it's super interesting:

"An Illustrated History of Anti-Nazi Exile" by @mauricejcasey

"What I finally held in my hands was a beautifully illustrated and artfully crafted journal. It told a history of 1930s refugee life from the perspective of two absurdly precocious girls. Hundreds of pages had survived.

In this post, I will explore the most extraordinary historical source I have ever drawn upon in my work."

I'm at a point where I seriously wish Etsy had a filter function to weed out all the scammer AI crap when searching for something. The amount of AI-generated images for sewing or crochet patterns or so-called "art prints" is genuinely nauseating.

"The artifacts, each about half the length of a golf tee..."

I BEG OF YOU, news people, please stop using these weird comparisons and just tell me the size of things in centimetres or inches or whatever.

Because the original paper is of course paywalled, I first had to google what a d*mn golf tee is, then I had to find out what size these very not-known-by-average-non-golf-playing-person highly specific things are, turns out they're between about 5 (standard) and 10 (max) centimetres long and I still don't really know what size the artifacts are. GRAAH.

Uhm, however, they found some really old things of unknown-to-us size that are thought to be the oldest stone sewing needles:
