I am wondering if there is anyone else who updated to the latest Be My Eyes app today and who can’t use it with the share sheet to look at photos that are already on their phone? I can take pictures and look at those, but when I double tap on the share sheet it won’t respond. I sent them an email, so hopefully it will be fixed soon. I am just wondering if I am the only one having this issue. I am glad there are other photo describing options.

A quote is displayed in black text on a white background. The quote reads: "Cowardice asks the question, is it safe? Expediency asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? But conscience asks the question, is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because it is right." Below the quote, the attribution reads: "—The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." https://mindly.social/@rfloyd7/113862087079552317

The old furnace has been removed, and the junk people are gone, and sweetie is lying here on the couch next to me, as though nothing had happened. Yay!

this question is for voiceover users who own an Apple Watch. Before removing it from my phone and pairing it again, whenever I would put it on the charger it would say nightstand mode and display both the level of charge as well as the time. Since setting it up as new on my phone, whenever it is on the charger, it now just says the time. How can I get it to say night stand mode and show the battery level while it is on the charger? I have looked through settings both on the watch itself and the watch app on my phone, and I can’t see anything related to this. Any suggestions?

Good #Monday morning, Mastodonians. It is the same old stuff around here, just relaxing with our coffee, and planning on a nice walk later. We are supposed to have mild weather for the foreseeable future, which means it will be another day in the low 60s. I love it for walking, but we really do need rain. Other than contemplative prayer this evening, we don’t have anything on the agenda, so we will take whatever comes our way. I hope it is a good day for everyone.

this morning when we left for our walk, we saw a fire engine down the block on a street that intersects with ours, and people were standing around outside. When we got there, we recognized a couple of neighbors, who told us that the woman in that house, who is just a few years older than our daughter, passed away. she apparently had colon cancer and had had several surgeries. None of her friends had heard from her since Wednesday, so they apparently came and checked on her and found her. She had a dog, and the poor thing was crying its little heart out when they were bringing it out of the house. it will be staying with a neighbor, at least for the time being. So sad.

Good #Tuesday morning, Mastodonians. It is a very windy morning here, and we are up drinking coffee and waiting for a grocery order to arrive. Later this morning we will have a windy walk, but the rest of the day should be free until choir rehearsal, which I had thought we decided not to have when we were talking about it a few weeks ago, but which our director said on Saturday we are going to have. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good #Wednesday morning, Mastodonians, and happy new year. We didn’t get to bed until almost 1 o’clock, but I woke up feeling rested and ready for the day. We will see how long that lasts. :-) We had a nice time though, eating way too much, then topping it off with some almond champagne. Today we will have Black Eyed Peas, which is sort of a tradition for us. We don’t have to go anywhere or do anything so we will just enjoy a quiet day. I hope it is a good day for everyone.

we were reminded this morning that it isn’t a happy Christmas for everyone. We have had a man named Bill who has lived in our neighborhood for many years with his wife Phyllis. Phyllis died several years ago and Bill had a man named Izzy move in with him along with Izzy‘s wife. This morning we saw Izzy and he stopped us to tell us that a lot of changes had happened at the house. Izzy‘s wife had gotten sick recently, and the doctor discovered she had stage four cancer, and within two weeks she was dead. They had been married 35 years. And then yesterday Bill died, so Izzy got two losses practically back to back. Our hearts ache for him and his family.

Good #Thursday morning, Mastodonians. This morning will start out a bit busy, because we have to walk sweetie and be back for a FaceTime call with our daughter, and then drop sweetie off at the groomer. After that things should slow down, thank goodness. I hope you all have a great day.

Good #Monday morning, Mastodonians. We got out while it was still dark to walk sweetie, because the rain was coming in. We got back home shortly after dawn, and no sooner had we walked into the house then it started to pour down rain. But it is nice to be inside, warm and dry. The walk was fun, because a lot of the houses with Christmas decorations still had their Christmas lights on, so I got to take pictures of them and run them through Be My AI when I got home so I could enjoy the decorations. Other than contemplative prayer, we have nothing on the agenda, so we will stay inside, unless or until the rain stops. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good #Saturday morning, Mastodonians. It is a very windy, rainy day here. When Dan looked out into the backyard, he said there was an area that was flooded. That is how much it has rained. We have a wind advisory and a flood advisory until noon today, then fortunately things will clear up enough for me to get to mass later on. I don’t know when we will get sweetie out for her walk, but it might not be very early. But she went out during the night, so she should be OK for a while. I hope everyone has a great day.

Good #Thursday morning, Mastodonians. I woke up later than usual this morning, so I am trying to catch up with myself, not that I have any deadlines by which I have to have things done. But I am the type of person that likes to be doing things roughly at the same time every day, so I feel like I am behind. we don’t have anything on the schedule, so the day is free. One of these days we need to walk over to a nearby bakery so I can buy my two favorite Christmas cookies, a gingerbread man, and a frosted Christmas tree sugar cookie. Those bring back childhood memories for me, because my grandmother always made us gingerbread men, and friends always gave us frosted Christmas cookies. So I like to buy one of each, bring them home, sit down at the kitchen table and eat them, savoring every bite. We get other Christmas treats during the season, which I may taste and enjoy, but those two Christmas cookies are my absolute favorite. We just have to decide when to walk over to the bakery, and I have to decide when I want to sit down and consciously blow my efforts to eat more or less healthy. I hope you are all having a good day.

Good #Tuesday morning, Mastodonians. I am trying to wake up. I slept well enough, but I am still feeling a bit sleepy, so I need to pour a bunch of coffee into my body. The only thing on tap for today is choir rehearsal. I just have a couple little things to do to get ready for it, and they are so little that I wonder if I will do them or just procrastinate? :-) Our weather is mild for this time of year, with temperatures in the low 60s in the daytime, and no rain. While I wish we would get rain because we need it, it sure makes for good walking weather. I hope you all have a good day.

for my fellow Meta glasses users, I just got connected to Be My Eyes this morning. I haven’t tried calling a volunteer yet, in fact I never have called a volunteer, and just have used it for AI. but just thought I would share how I got connected. I got a notification about Be My Eyes, which I read, and there was the option to connect at the end of the notification. I would be interested to hear if anyone has actually used the glasses to call the volunteer.

Good #Monday morning, Mastodonians. We are having our usual leisurely start to the morning, taking turns sleeping, while the other one is awake drinking coffee. :-) Dan got up around 5 o’clock I think, and made the coffee and had some, and he is now back asleep. I got up about 630, and I’m drinking my coffee while he sleeps. Sweetie doesn’t get any coffee. :-) Sweetie has a grooming appointment this afternoon, and we have some packages to send up to our daughter, but other than that, the day should be free. Oh, we also have our usual contemplative prayer on Zoom, but that is just for a half hour. Anyway, I hope you all have a good day.

I have paired lots of stuff using Bluetooth, and have never had something I couldn’t get paired, but the last two machines we have tried just won’t pair, either for Dan or me. Can anyone think why that might be? And if you know of a machine that works on electricity as well as battery, and that will pair with Bluetooth, please share. Other than groceries and mass and walks, the day should be a relaxing one. Hope it is a good one for everyone. (2/2)

Good #Saturday morning, Mastodonians. It should be a busy morning here. We are going to try grocery delivery, and they are supposed to come at around 8 o’clock, so we are up and ready for them. In other news, I have been on a hunt for a blood pressure machine that I can plug in, because although I love the one I have, it goes through batteries really fast. The problem I have been having is that the last two I have tried will not pair using Bluetooth, which is totally baffling to me. (1/2)

Good #Tuesday morning, Mastodonians. I kept thinking it was Monday during the night, and then I realized it is Tuesday and election day. I fear what this day may bring, as well as what will happen regardless of who wins. I have voted, and all I can do now is let things unfold as they will, and do my best to demonstrate a peaceful transition to what is next. We are moving pretty slowly today. I am the only one who is functional at this point. (1/2)
