Day 2 of the #XMPP Summit is about to begin!

Yesterday, we had a great first day, in which topics ranging from a new group chat protocol to encryption techniques were discussed. I'll leave what happened during the subject "how to disco" up to your imagination.

I'm looking forward to day 2!

On my way to Brussels! I'll be attending the annual #XMPP Summit and #FOSDEM, and I'm looking forward to the next few days immensely!

Nerding out on #opensource, open communication standards and meeting up with old friends is one of the highlights of my year.

Let me know if you are around! Maybe we can meet up!

Last year, I launched the XMPP Network Graph: a website that visualizes part of the public XMPP network.

It continues to be a fun little project to work on. Over the last few weeks, a great deal of improvements have been applied (with many thanks to all people that suggested or even implemented them).

If you run an XMPP domain, please add your domain to the graph!

You can find the XMPP Network graph on https://xmppnetwork.goodbytes.im/ (on mobile, you might want to try https://xmppnetwork.goodbytes.im/webgl.html instead)

Bunq, a Dutch bank, contacted one of their customers through an in-app helpdesk functionality, after that customer reverted removal of a section describing a controversy on the Wikipedia page of the bank.

The original controversy (which was well published in Dutch media) was reason enough for me to avoid banking with #bunq. Apparently, things can get worse. If you have an account with them, you may want to consider alternatives.

How often do you spent hours on implementing unit tests, only to find that the amount of executed tests has not increased at all, and finally figuring out that in ~1500 lines of code, you forgot to annotate each test as being ... a test (thus preventing them from being executed at all)?

I obviously had attempted to run the tests along the way, which did not yield any test failures. I was really proud of myself too, until it got suspicious.

@daniel For some reason, none of my XMPP accounts seem to authenticate successfully any more when using Conversations (Playstore) on my Chromebook. I'm getting 'unauthorized' in the UI. Happens for three different accounts on two different servers (that use different server software). Those same accounts work fine when using Conversations on my phone. Do you have any idea what might be causing this?
