Both of my grandmothers (like many other women in their generation) were prescribed benzodiazepines, to which they both ultimately became very addicted to -- a scourge that followed them into the final years of their lives.

We didn't openly talk about this in my family.

Given how frequently benzos were prescribed to women in the 1970s, I imagine many other people have similar stories about their parents or grandparents. Too many of these stories are untold.

Does this resonate with anyone?

If you want to know what neuroscientists are grappling with right now (especially how it relates to data, tools, and technology), read this very comprehensive summary of the recent "Open Data in Neuroscience" symposium:

https://arxiv.org/pdf/2407.00976

I especially appreciate that bullet NUMBER ONE on the list of key takeaways (pg 27) is "Education and training of neuroscientists at every level is crucial for ensuring open data practices are effectively adopted and utilized."
