Doing some research for a local school careers convention and I see an ad for a "Middle Weight .NET developer". I guess they're avoiding people with bigger Spans.

My sister-in-law has launched at Etsy shop selling her prints : https://www.etsy.com/shop/Lisahunneybellart

I'm aware that my tiny number of IT related followers on one of the smallest social networks is not the biggest platform to promote on, but every little helps!

The inconsistent behaviour of pressing the enter key across messaging apps, comments boxes, spreadsheet cells, etc. is a cause of anxiety for me.

Now #git is close to ubiquitous, I think it would be helpful if #JetBrainsRider changed some terminology to match:

I was going to add "shelve => stash" but realised they're different things.

"Pull" and "Reset" do appear in places, making me wonder what the differences are, if any, with "Update" and "Rollback".

It has occurred to me that the .tv domain could be one of the first TLD removed directly by climate change.

Loved hearing the Pixies' "Where is my mind" throughout the #Thunderbolts movie teaser trailer. It's significantly increased my anticipation of seeing the film.

I can't help but feel we're on the wrong path with "AI". Or at least, if we're on the right path it's accidental. The human brain has specialised areas and encoded that specialisation into DNA, it's that important to conserve. Who knows how or if these LLMs have self organized their internals. Certainly the evolutionary selection pressures haven't been harsh enough on them. Right, I need to go and treat my appendicitis pain with some high fibre breakfast and mint tea, per the Google Bard advice.

I'm really missing being able to use elk.zone to ready my feed. Ever since Chromium 129 got into Edge developer edition I'm getting a largely blank screen. https://github.com/elk-zone/elk/issues/2935 covers it, but it seems the only thing to do is wait for 130.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has copied and pasted some code from a website only for it to include the line numbers (NPM's "code" tab most recently for me). Here's a simple site to rectify this:

Every part of this latest Boris Johnson enterprise smells as dodgy as a three day old prawn mayo sandwich left on the counter. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/sep/07/boris-johnson-faces-questions-uranium-business-charlotte-owen-aide?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

Very glad I had a friend that persuaded me to stick with #vim (well, inside #jetbrainsrider and #visualstudio ) even though it unquestionably made me less productive for a couple of weeks. Enough of it is now muscle memory that I'm easily more productive with it. There's always more to learn, though! I doubt I'm using 5% of it.
