note to future self: on IPv6-only hosts, rootless Podman with slirp4netns copies the host's DNS server into resolv.conf in the container, which doesn't work as it's a link-local address relative to the host (in my case anyway).
it's necessary to pass --dns=fd00::3
to Podman to force back the default IPv6 DNS server address in the container and also remove the IPv4 one.

(that being said, an aging artist going on a "greatest hits" solo tour without bandmates is usually not a career highlight. wish I had been there in person to judge for myself if he was able to pull it off.)

the mosh project seems to be dead in the water. is there a modern alternative, preferably written in a memory-safe language?

TIL: Linux 6.6 changes the way workqueues process items, avoiding moving them across sockets. libvirt configures CPUs in virtual machines with multiple sockets each containing 1 core, because virtual CPUs are all equal anyway. performance suffers as a result.
workaround: change vCPU topology in libvirt config to use 1 socket with multiple cores instead.

switched from Unbound+DNScrypt-proxy to Knot resolver and things are going very well so far. the configuration is way more flexible, allowing me to enable DNS64 only for some client subnets. can't really tell if there's a performance difference with my home network, but it seems excellent anyway, even with a 300K blocklist.
