Yup.

The only language Musk and Zuckerberg will understand is if people leave their platforms. In droves. As long as the majority of their users stay, there are no consequences for their actions and they can continue with impunity. https://astrodon.social/@bibianaprinoth/113868146197632540

Today was 30 years since my father died. Half my life, now.

We were living in Vancouver when he was hospitalised. My sister called to tell me (in the middle of the night, Pacific time), and when I asked if I needed to come home, at first she said no — but then shortly after she said yes. In the morning I called airlines, and was able to get a flight with British Airways to Oslo — via London — the following day.

When I arrived at Oslo Airport (at the time, in Fornebu just west of Oslo), my mother and my siblings were waiting for me. My mother hugged me and told me I was too late.

He died about an hour and half before my plane landed.

I still remember that moment, that greeting, as if it was yesterday.

There is no defence for Musk’s Nazi salute. He knew damn well what he was doing, and was prepared for the backlash. All news media that pretend it was an «ambiguous gesture» are cowards and collaborators; they should be driven out of business since their business no longer involves seeking truth.

I've deleted my Proton account, and gave them the following reason:

"You have publically supported Donald Trump and his incoming MAGA-oligarchy. This is not the way responsible companies interested in democracy and free speech behave and I will not be associated with it."

Watching season 1 of The Diplomat. Finally. Quite enjoyable, but — and I say this as someone who grew up as the child of a diplomat — I've seen Marvel movies with more believable plots...

Legally, they can’t be called ‘uggs’ outside of Australia – but the name will stick regardless https://theconversation.com/legally-they-cant-be-called-uggs-outside-of-australia-but-the-name-will-stick-regardless-247562

This is a perfect example of why trademark law is ridiculous. Applying for copyright protection for a name that is already a generic term seems like theft to me.

Very odd thing happened today. I started the day (after a late breakfast) with some heavy-duty procrastiworking, but in the end I finished all the things I actually was supposed to do. And so we both have a clean house with laundry put away and I’m prepared for the week to come.

Not sure how that happened.

The lunatics are running the asylum.

Except the lunatics are tech-bro billionaires and the asylum is home to all of us.

Trump is, just like during his first term, saying whatever insanely stupid thing comes into his head, and the world doesn’t seem quite sure how to handle it. Does he mean even some of those outrageous and crazy things? Is he as stupid and dement is we think or is there some master plan there? And journalists in the US and around the world treat him seriously instead of as the wannabe tin pot dictator he is.

I cannot forgive the US electorate for subjecting all of us to this again, especially since the crazy and the nasty have been ratcheted up several notches by Musk and his hopped-up tech bro posse.

Musk has become the very definition of a foreign insurrectionist. He is attempting to use his money and influence to destabilise the governments of countries other than his own, and should be subject to the same sorts of sanctions and restrictions as Russian oligarchs.
