Favorite films produced/distributed by one of Charles Band's companies (part 1)

Re-Animator. Loosely based on a short story by H.P. Lovecraft this cult #horror pairs over-the-top gore and violence with a quirky sense of humor and great performances (my first exposure to the inimitable Jeffrey Combs, who later became famous for having portrayed multiple characters on every Star Trek show of the 1990s) Followed by two sequels distributed by someone else.

@lauren Knowing that you were involved with the making of 'Star Trek - The Motion Picture' I wondered if you've seen the 'Director's Edition' from 2022? It's in UHD and has all the VFX shots polished/redone. Lots of people involved with shooting the theatrical version & the 1st Director's Cut from 2001 were also involved with this, according to the bonus material included on the Bluray. Any opinions?

@puffer @buffyleigh @Defiance @jsundman My condolences to you and all other reasonable Americans. I hope you'll be able to keep up your good spirits (or regain them after a while).

@LillyHerself Evening. I've finished 'Coin Locker Babies' and so have you, I reckon. My very brief summary: A wild ride, punk yes, but without the "cyber" part (whoever slapped that tag on has no clue what it means), the ending is nihilistic AF but -knowing Takashi Miike's film adaptation of the same author's 'Audition'- I expected that. What's your opinion?

@cstross I accidentally recorded a BBC program called 'Alex Salmond - The Man Who Changed Scotland'. What do you think, should I watch it to learn something about the Scottish independence movement?

@buffyleigh Was that sentence grammatically incorrect perhaps? Should I insert a "being" before "about"? Or better still: How would you phrase it? Thanks!

Every time I catch myself about to yell at my cats I remember our friend J.'s toot where he said exactly NOT to do that. #spaceacesunday

@cstross Here's an essay by my friend @jsundman on the fascist/christian/tescreal alliance planning to overthrow U.S. democracy. He's also an SF author and his conclusions are not very far from yours so I thought it might interest you.

@cstross I don't know if you're watching 'Rings of Power' but I'd like to know what you think of the dwarves having Scottish accents. I have to grin every time the younger Durin or his wife speaks

I read this just now. R.I.P #JamesDarren, one of the coolest #StarTrek characters ever. His singing and laid-back cool cat demeanor made #DS9 even better than it was already

@puffer Here's my contribution to #spaceacesunday: His reply when I considered starting my own blog and had asked him and you for advice.

@puffer @darkobserver I will at times yap about anything eh but I really am uninterested in as puffer said "building an audience" with - anything, anything at all! Once in awhile I'll be convinced I have something to say and I'll write someone for puffers blog but that's every few months at most then it's outta my system. I think before starting anything just make sure you're ready to do it for the long haul and don't assume people will care. Like puffer I'd guest on something for you

Every time I think I belong to a group of people sooner or later something happens to remind me that I'll always be hovering at the fringes at best. But that's okay, since it's mostly my own fault

@cstross I'm looking forward to your take on the current far-right riots in the U.K. AFAIK there's not been one in Scotland yet, which is also interesting
