I suspect there are cis people who misgender #trans folk who pass too well: "i know they' re trans, so I should use the pronoun that doesn't match their appearance right?" At least I hope so. :D

Why is #astrology based on which constellation the Sun is in, when you can't actually see a constellation that the Sun is in? #astronomy

A friend at choir asked me why I was tired and how do I even answer that question? "I spent all afternoon avoiding work and contemplating the rise of fascism and now I'm exhausted" isn't likely to make sense to NT folk. #AuDHD

I've been thinking about joy a lot recently (thanks to https://mas.to/@skeletor/112666763804212541 of all things), and how my expressions of joy and enthusiasm as a child were probably the things I was most mocked or chastised for, because they were "embarrassing" or "weird". It makes it harder for me to appreciate and cultivate the joy I do find in my life now.
I would love to hear your experiences with joy. #actuallyautistic #ADHD #AuDHD

One #ADHD symptom I don't really resonate with is a tendency towards reckless behavior, but that's because I have an internal monitor (which I often think of as my autism) who is terrified of my impulsiveness and tries to keep it suppressed at all costs, leading to a pathological need for control in every part of my life and an inability to relax. If I let go, I'm afraid I might just fall apart. Said monitor originating with my mother, who was always afraid of me and my ability to embarrass her. #AuDHD

"My name is Rachel," I told the receptionist at the gender clinic, dreading the inevitable next question.
"And may I have your birthname, please?" she asked, smiling brightly.
I sighed. "Robert," I muttered, hoping no one else heard. I glanced over at my mother, sitting on one of the plastic chairs in the reception area, chatting with another patient. She would have loved to hear me use that name; she still insisted on calling me Robert, even in public.
"Thank you, I accept!" the receptionist beamed at me. "That should take care of everything. Please have a seat."
When I returned to my mother, she pointed me out to her new friend. "And this is my daughter Rachel! Isn't she beautiful?"
I stared at my mother in shock. I heard a chuckle behind me, and turned to see the receptionist, brushing her hair back from her pointed ears before closing the window to the lobby.
