My best sounding and playing acoustic guitar is made right here in Canada by Godin in a small Quebec village. Goes head to head with any Martin or Collings. And very affordable. Solid mahogany top, back and sides, rosewood fretboard. Killer tone. And they make great electric guitars too! Had a Godin Session. My new song “Broken Lawn Chair.” Messing around with the mix. This is a close to final version. Still tweaking. Four guitars. Danelectro baritone and Fender MIM p-bass up the middle and Gretsch 5422 and Danelectro 59M panned hard left and right. Baritone is tuned down to A. Harp is Hohner G mic’d and through MXR Timmy pedal. Nice to do some blues. My comfort zone. I also used an egg shaker. Put down some G harp tracks on my new original song last night. Harp solo between second and final verse. A few of my harmonicas I’ve had since the late 1970’s and a couple are pretty bagged. This G harp is fairly new so breaking it in. Should have it nailed tonight. Running the harp through the Apex 327 bullet mic into the MXR Timmy and straight to interface. Working on the new original song. Recording a few prelim vocal tracks tonight in the basement. Getting a feel for this tune. It’s basically a shuffle blues thing with a turnaround. Has an offbeat thing going on that’s kinda’ funky. Starts in 7th chord and resolves to major in choruses and verse endings. More vocals tomorrow. #music #recording #songwriting #blues

Down in the basement working on the new original song. Going well, better than I thought. It’s weird when you put down a bunch of tracks and don’t really know what you’ve got until you put ‘em together with some prelim mixing and tweaking. The first night I tracked the baritone tuned down to A. Next couple nights I tracked the Danelectro 59 and Gretsch hollow body - both capo’d up to the 5th fret to sync with the A baritone. Right now, got the baritone mixed down the middle and other two guitars panned hard left and right. A very full sound. Put down an egg shaker track tonight. Vocals next. Then bass and harp. My project for today; build and install a sliding tray for the new fridge/freezer in the VW camper van. The 30 year old original 3-way fridge was toast, so bought a small Dometic CFX 25 litre unit. It runs on AC, DC or solar. Flashed it up and had the temp down to -22°C. I picked up some 100lb capacity drawer sliders at the local hardware store and everything went well. Got the new fridge in and it works great. #camping #projects #construction
