Citing Reeves’s comments on growth, Clive Lewis, the Labour MP for #Norwich South and co-sponsor of the bill, said: “What kind of growth do we want? What are we growing? Are we growing pollution in our rivers? Are we growing roads that go through ancient woodlands? Yes, that is growth but not the kind of growth we want”

Why is my MP Clive Lewis still in the #Labour party?

‘As only a small fraction of the total transport footprint, this quantity does not account for cumulative effects of other developments, and significantly under-represents the real impacts. This way of calculating road use carbon is a misleading method where every scheme “passes” the carbon test even if emissions may be substantial.’

Explanation of why government’s methodology for impact assessments relating to carbon are crap…

‘In the planning system, road user carbon emissions are computed from a traffic model including the scheme, foreseeable land-based developments, other roads schemes, and national assumptions on economic growth. However, only a fraction of this carbon, based on the difference between model outputs with and without the road, is taken forward to assessment’

‘This week, #Starmer said he was determined to overhaul the judicial review process to prevent “nimbys and zealots” such as Boswell “gumming up the legal system”.

In a comment piece for the Daily Mail, Starmer accused Boswell and his ilk of trying to “hold the country to ransom” through legal claims that amount to “self-righteous virtue signalling”

Erm…again I ask, what is the difference between Starmer and Trump this week?

Dr Andrew Boswell is a hero in #Norwich. He’s a man of science and principle with a willingness to engage constructively in local politics.

He took the government to the High Court because impact assessments arranged for road widening in #Norfolk were crap. #Starmer labelled him an ‘environmental zealot’ just to put others off speaking truth to power.

This is a sensitively written piece about research into gender dysphoria, that explains the statistics in a non-alarmist way for people that don’t understand statistics.

I would add that statistically speaking I understand that Nazi salutes are most prevalent among Nazis…not autistic people.

I’m not #ActuallyAutistic…but I have family members who are and some who also display dyspraxic traits.

All I’ll say is that #Musk’s salute was coordinated. It was deliberate - he repeated it. And he supports the ADF in Germany and Tommy Robinson in the UK.

My partner came home while I was cooking dinner, he then looked after the kids until bedtime. I am lucky to have a partner and yes, he’s my kid’s dad so it is part of his role to look after them…but I still feel like I’ve been a $hit parent while simultaneously being exploited. This doesn’t happen to this extent every night, but it does happen until 5pm regularly.

Quitting with no realistic prospect of finding a role in the field I love on part time hours seems a bad move.

What do I do?

I literally begged to come off a work call to feed my kids their dinner tonight. Then I went straight back to work and only stopped returning messages to my boss when I pointed out I needed to put the kids to bed.

Are there any mothers out there who have cracked having a mentally stimulating job that pays a living wage, but is genuinely part time - no expectation of completing tasks in your own time to meet deadlines - therefore allowing you to be present for your kids?

I feel that I am in a downward spiral at the moment. I worked until 8.30pm tonight - I’m only paid until 2.30pm.

If you have cracked it, what industry do you work in?

[#]Labour whips attempt to sink #climate and #environment bill that would make ministers legally bound to stick to #Cop pledges.

Ask yourself how similar in practice are the Starmer/Reeves actions to Trump’s this week…cozy up to rich Non Doms, throw the environment under a bus for ‘growth’ and make our international commitments meaningless.

I really do hope we’ll be hearing a lot more from Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde.

‘In a June 2020 article, she expressed outrage over #Trump’s appearance in front of St John’s Episcopal church in Washington DC, when he held up a Bible for a photo after federal officers used force to clear a crowd of peaceful protesters demonstrating against the death of George Floyd.’

Knowledge is power and it can influence how an individual behaves and then influences others to act.

But if companies think by making their employees spend an hour on an online course they have carried out their environmental duties, it’s just greenwash.

The butterfly effect is all well and good…but maybe the need for action is from CEOs, not just their employees.

I scored 100% in the 20 question multiple choice test at the end. I was relieved. No more nagging boss.

But will it make a difference? Will everyone doing an environmental awareness course make my company, an average property services company, behave in a greener way?

We gave up using electric vans because Norfolk is so rubbish for public charging points.

We gave up recycling, because we have a skip permanently out the back.

We use electric fan heaters because the gas boiler always fails.

This evening because I had been chased by my boss I did my company’s generic environmental awareness training.

I did it in the evening because i’m part time but routinely expected to prepare reports overnight and attend meetings outside of my work hours.

So I did the course and test. It was well meaning and reinforced much of what I already know and do. The greenhouse effect was explained, the impact of biodiversity loss, the impact of recycled paper and reusable coffee cups. All positive.

‘The #Trump administration is moving to put employees in federal diversity, equity and inclusion programs on paid leave by 5 p.m. Wednesday.’

Employees must also divulge if they know of any plans to "disguise" DEI programs "by using coded or imprecise language," according to the memo.’

Time to dust off those history books about 1930’s Germany me thinks…

I don’t think the private sector is the solution to all of government’s problems - often it’s really not, because working for the benefit of share holders and profit skews government objectives and policy away from delivering in the public interest.

But I think there is value in having people who have worked in both the private and public sector entering the civil service…and perhaps there should be more opportunities to enter into it therefore mid-career.
