Merry Christmas! Christmas coleslaw is made (sporting red and green peppers for a festive look) and parcels are all packed in the car for transporting across town mid-morning.

We’re one family member down today, so I’m thinking of all those who are having a first Christmas without a loved one - as we are. Wear the silly hat in remembrance.

6.15am. On public address speakers somewhere in the neighbourhood ‘Last Christmas’ is playing. Seems a bit mean.

My afternoon:

I found a separate camera and microphone to add to the screen I’m using that lacks these.

Decided to check it worked. No ports on the screen, but in looking managed to push it off the desk and scattered my desk junk in all directions. Righted the screen.

Tried a usb port on the back of the computer but, due to poor access, put the audio jack in some random spot by feel.

It went very poorly. Computer stopped instantly and is now totally unresponsive.

Cleomes are a favourite flower and not only because they self seed marvellously. This pic is from the first year I grew them.

Today a lovely friend gave me this rose bush in memory of my dad who died in June. The rose’s name is ‘My Dad’. I have some wonderful friends.

I bought this after seeing it in a friend’s garden. Spectacular display but I must have done something wrong when I trimmed it after flowering as it was a one-flowering wonder and departed this life shortly after. A pity, but things have to be pretty sturdy to survive my gardening skills.

I planted a bare stick of winter sweet beside the clothes line but had to wait many years before it flowered. Now it is well-established and shares its wonderful scent early winter.

In the years before the cornflowers took over this garden, there were the bright colours of calendulas and viscaria. The calendulas still appear summer and winter, but it’s only occasionally that the bit of viscaria gets in before the cornflowers expand to fill most the space.

I’m pretty sure this one is a gazinia; from my ‘dash out when the rain stops to capture raindrops on flowers’ phase.

I have photo favourites in my phone going back to 2016. Mainly flowers and cats. Family would be the next biggest category, then scenery and holidays. Thought I might share some of the flower photos. Seems like a good time.

I think this is an osteospermum, but it isn’t one that’s present in the garden these days. The garden is always up to something but not the same something every year.

I mostly loiter and like (and occasionally boost) here, but today I’m going to be a better community member and actually post something. I feel this is too cute to wait for Caturday.
