It's taken some time, but I feel like I'm getting my #Blender chroma key workflow down to a science. The split between the Video Sequence Editor and the individual movie clip datablocks that the rest of the program operates on is a bit hard to wrap your head around, but I think I've got it now.

Here's a screenshot of my workspace setup. I'm now rendering the B/W mask and the despilled video to separate image sequences for further adjustment

Still a rough edit, but I had to share. Here's the #musical portion of my wife's kids #TV show #pilot! The song is Take A Break from her previously released #album, with added vocals from the puppet characters Lotsa and Dots.

I'm getting in the mood to build a #handheld #linux #cyberdeck again. Thinking something based on a compute module with custom thumb keyboard, 18650 cells for power and a nice 5 inch display.

I want plenty of USB-A, maybe ethernet, etc.

Yesterday I directed the shoot for the #pilot of my wife's children's #TV show, Lilypad Library. She's been developing the show for the past year, and it was so amazing to get talented people together and get an episode filmed. I'm incredibly proud of her, and I'm proud of myself for getting everything we needed shot in a single day.

I have a lot of editing work ahead of me, but it will be great to have a rough cut to show at #Kidscreen.

I actually put some code in an init.py file for once. I think I may be a real #Python developer now...

I'm developing a love-hate relationship with #Python #pandas. It seems to be the right tool for the job I'm trying to do, but it also feels like whenever I get down to the meat of the thing I'm trying to do, I'm never doing it in the way the library wants me to...

My wife and I just got back from a long-anticipated trip to #Disney World. We both had a lot of fun, and we're both totally exhausted from walking ~30k steps/day for the past few days. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip (at least of the ones I've developed so far.)

Tried extra hard to actually get some saturation and contrast in my edits, but I'm still not fully settled on my process with @darktable

I think I'm one or two good coding sessions away from being ready to deploy the new version of my wife's website based on #Wagtail. I'm still happy with #Hugo for my site, but making a non-technical person deal with #git and #markdown files is a big ask.

It's been nice getting more into #Django as it really does take care of so much junk that making a robust website entails.

hey #indieweb folks, as promised I've started to find a way to donate some time, hardware, and expertise to those looking to carve out some space online. To that end I've got a #VM running #yunohost on some mostly-idle hardware in my basement. If anyone would like to use some self-hosted services or perhaps put their own small website up on the internet, let me know and I'll help you out!

I took my Grandma out to play Jersey Jack's Elton John #pinball machine at my local freeplay #arcade and we both had a lot of fun! I knew she would love it as a big fan of Elton John's music (which I remember from riding in her car when she would pick me up from school)

I'm so glad I got to share my obsession with her 🥰

Today I managed to install #Yunohost in a VM bridged to my network on the Optiplex tower in my basement, and it's out on the internet now. This is pretty fun, and now that I've manually installed some services I'm happy to let that be automated and easy.

I'll be thinking of ways to manage this, and hopefully I can put together not only a way to make this happen myself, but a playbook for other would-be community server admins.

If anyone has any ideas or would like to help make this idea a reality, please #reply or DM me!

[#]boosts are of course appreciated as well

AvE on YouTube did something like this with his big CNC machine. He did what he called the "town pump CNC" where people could send in their projects and make them happen.

In the world of manufacturing, there are ways of getting parts made relatively inexpensively, but that still shuts out all of the people with big ideas who can't afford those costs.

Firstly, domain names and small virtual servers are cheap but not free. I'd like to make a community that can share domains and compute resources to lower the monetary requirements further.

I don't just want to make a new platform for people to be locked into, I want to manage a town square of servers for anyone who wants or needs to host whatever small application or site they like.
