I hope that one day, common sense prevails, and that FaceBook (and other similarly engineered social media scourges) are commonly seen to be the danger they really are. Like the tobacco and opioid monsters, they have ruined countless lives, and worse, all while making a few people grotesquely wealthy. Their algorithms are like a cancer, poisoning the public mind, and turning humans into hurtful, insensitive, and selfish brain eating zombies. Let's bring back civility and basic human kindness. #rant #SocialMedia #EatTheRich

Do I know anyone who's familiar with the area around Siena, Italy, and San Giminiano? Specifically, wife and I are planning to travel there and we wonder a few things...

• can we cycle the area in late December?

• do we HAVE to rent a car to get to Colle Val d’Elsa from Siena? Are there trains or busses?

• There's a hotel called Palazzo Pacini -- any good?

And very specifically, there's a bike rental place called Cycle Classic Tours in Colle Val d’Elsa -- reputable?

Can anyone express an informed opinion about some new / great ways for a Canadian to learn some Italian? I used Rosetta Stone many years ago for some very basic "tourist Italian", but would like to prepare a little more for an upcoming trip. It seems Babbel is the leader these days, but I wonder if there's something hiding in the bushes. I should add-- it really needs to be self paced, and I don't want to mess around with free approaches (I'm too old to figure some of that out, or risk getting something wrong), so DuoLingo may not be an option (but I might be convinced). #italianlanguage #languagelearning #languages #babbel #rosettastone #duolingo
