I finished work at 5pm and cycled to the gym, and for the first time in months the westward sky was deep blue rather than black, and this really cheered me up 😁

A pretty icy bike ride tonight, and none of the shared paths have been gritted. An exercise in not turning the handlebars and going much slower than usual.

Still, I didn't have to resort to a 4-wheeled metal overcoat, so it's all good 😁

I actually had a positive interaction with a motorist on tonight's ride. He was straddling a toucan crossing while I was waiting for the lights to change.

He lowered his window and apologised, saying he hadn't realised. I said it was no problem as the lights hadn't changed anyway, and we parted on good terms.

How refreshing! 😁

A new school has been built where I live. It's got the first parallel crossing I've ever seen here. And the school has multiple bike racks.

If only there were safe bike lanes to actually get there...

Well, it's a start, I suppose 🤔

Well, that was an incredibly soggy bike ride home. Lots of surface water, too. 💦 💧

But on the bright side, the horrible weather means there are many fewer motorists about 😁

I posted a picture of this window in October, when it had pumpkin lights. They've now been changed for fairy lights for Christmas.

(I might re-visit this window over the next few months and see what else they come up with... It could be a mini-project.)

This is St Paul's Cathedral, on a dreary grey overcast day in London. I was standing in the Tate Modern gallery on the Southbank of the river, and I liked the frame that the window created.

The Christmas market has started in the grounds of Rochester Castle tonight. Consequently, the whole town is gridlocked with motorists and queueing traffic everywhere. Perish the thought anyone might get the bus instead(!)

Luckily, I could use the shared path and overtake the lot of them 😄

I went back to the #BMX fun session last night. This time it was going over ramps and learning the first half of a bunny hop by attempting to jump over a very small twig 😂

Alas, Storm Bert has brought 50mph winds to Kent, so no #cycling for me today.

I walked to the supermarket along roads which were more sheltered, but it was still a bit of a battle.

I didn't need to resort to driving, though 😁

40mph wind gusts and heavy rain today. I decided to split the journey - I scooted the bike to the station, got the train for 3/4 of the journey and then rode to my house via the bottom of a chalk cliff to shelter me from the wind.

A bit of an odyssey, but made it in one piece 🤣

I had my first ever go on a #BMX pump track tonight. And I found out that standing on the pedals for an hour requires different muscles! Haha, my calves are COOKED 🤣

Still, I had fun and I'm going to go back in a fortnight and do it all again. And I only had one teeny tiny crash, so I'm pleased with that 😁
