It's a similar problem to exercise apps which are supposed to "inspire" you to work out every day. Sometimes working out is worse for you and you need to rest, but the apps don't account for that.
Any app which is trying to encourage regular activities needs to acknowledge that humans are not machines. Otherwise they're just discouraging.
The "inspirational" notice I just got from Duo was a real kick in the teeth to someone who's been struggling to sleep and breathe for a week.
