I'm somewhere near the end of "Dragon of Life" which is the fifth book in the "Dragons of the Wounded Land".
The best reading order for the Patterner's World books:
Elona -> Jaymis -> Dragons of Esternes series -> Chara -> Kisharuk -> Dragons of the Wounded Land series
And by the time you've read all those I should have finished the last book.

She wanted to tell him to stop, to consider how it would be for her if he was killed. But she did not; how could she ask a brave man to contradict his very nature? To negate the thing that made him what she loved? So she held her tongue and suffered whenever he was gone.

The goddess let her head sag with her chin to her chest. Then looked up, her face filled with sadness. She mimicked having a dagger thrust through her heart.
Miralees took her hands, and brought them to her face. She kissed each gently.

Terrible. I had wanted to finish the current book which is the final book in the Dragons of the Wounded Land series, which is the last series in my Patterner's World books (until the next time).
And work just suddenly got so heavy I was working every spare hour.
So that didn't happen, and I'm annoyed about it.

I write in Scrivener. It does not resemble any final form (whether printed or ebook).
I don't use Scrivener's export facilities - beyond exporting the manuscript - anyway. I use Atticus for formatting.

There's a quote, quite a harsh one, that came from somewhere, I don't know the source, that goes: "If anyone can be persuaded to stop writing, they should be."
The point being, I think, that a writer cannot be stopped.

Since we're talking Harry and Sellie in East Africa, the answer is yes (though not "inspired" merely "used" - if it hadn't existed I would have had something else).
History: The enslaving of Africans did not stop with the UK abolition. The Dutch and the Germans were doing it too and kept at it, but going east not west. The British were trying to put an end to it.
The island of Zanzibar, a staging post before crossing the Indian Ocean, was run by a pro-slavery sultan who had two heirs, one was pro-slavery supported by the Germans, the other against, supported by the British. And the old sultan died.
The British sent in a gunboat and a ultimatum: "If the other guy takes over we are at war." He did and they were.
It was the shortest official war in history - about 45 minutes. One person died. The anti-slavery guy was in.
Harry and Sellie's first adventure takes place during that event.

The Edgbaston sisters live in East Africa close to Mombasa, being hot is the usual situation.
But when they want, Harry and Sellie can head into the mountains in their flying machine (the Iron Pegasus) to an inaccessible valley with a nice lake where they can cool down. It might be the 1890s but they're not averse to skinny dipping as long as it's just them.
