Francis Poulenc was born #OTD in 1899. So here's the NBC Opera Theatre production of Carmelites, made for American TV in 1957, and sung in English.

Put up with a bit of wow and flutter for the sake of Elaine Malbin as Blanche, Leontyne Price as Madame Lidoine and the great Patricia Neway as Mme de Croissy.
