This was fun to see. Not quite quick enough with the camera but you can hopefully see the passenger.

Good reminder from @davidallengreen that executive orders aren't always legally binding and we should watch 'what they do, not what they say'

Beautiful ride through the fens today. Everything covered with crystalized water (frost), just incredibly beatiful in the low winter sun.

Animal interests were herons, Highland Cows (major irony on the lowland fens), and the Konik ponies.

Too cold to stop and take pictures though - I think my right foot actually froze.

Lovely, cold, but beautiful sunrise ride into work this morning. The highlight was the frost getting picked up by my tires and sparkling in the low sun.

A great thread showing significant UK progress in reducing CO2 emissions from power generation meaning EVs and Heat Pumps are even more significantly clean. Still a long way to go though to reach the 2030 targets.

I treated myself to a new telescope. I’ve got a larger one but never really had the time to learn it well enough to get reliable results. I got a Seestar S50 and have used it only once but am super impressed with the ease of use, portability and results. Here's IC 1785 or the Fish Head Nebula as it is known. Stacked image of 169 10sec exposures.

“If the government got behind it, the returns could be huge: for a tenth of the cost of a single motorway junction upgrade, we could have something of real value to the nation, and to local communities.”

Does it count as New Bike Day if you're several hundred miles away from the bike and likely to be so for 2 weeks?

Two of my favourite things in one - a solar powered cargo bike

“A full day in the sun is enough to fill the battery from zero to full charge. An hour is sufficient for at least 8 km of driving... In our target markets of Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria, the battery can go many months throughout Spring and Summer without recharging from the grid.”

So the Faro islands can build an 11km tunnel between Sandoy and Streymoy but the Isle of Wight can't have a (cycle) tunnel half the distance from the mainland

Today I learned about the word Eggcorn.

"An eggcorn is the alteration of a phrase through the mishearing or reinterpretation of one or more of its elements, creating a new phrase having a different meaning from the original but which still makes sense and is plausible when used in the same context”

Delightfuly, the word itself is an mishearing of ‘acorn'.
