With the push to buy Canadian I'm wondering if there are any good Canadian (or European) alternatives to Google workspaces for small business?

I have an instance of nextcloud running with hetzner so I may just move everything there but I do need an alternative email provider.

With Drumph stripping departments of any power and putting idiots in charge is it a good time to clone key government sites like CISA and NIST so we can preserve them?

Remember during some of the government shutdowns not being about to reach important sites like that.

If you're in Canada and receive any spam/phishing text messages you can forward them to 7726 (SPAM).

Finished last episode of Landman with Billy Bob Thornton. Sure hope this show continues. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Even with the falsehoods about green energy used by the MAGA morons it was still great.

OMG. Was doing a little travelling down memory lane and looked at my old high school website. School looks quite different then when I went there nearly 40 years ago.

Decided to check out Wikipedia history of the school. I think a student had some fun editing the history. I don't recall that from when I was there. But then again I was such a geek.

Can I ask a favor of all my fellow mastodonians (mastodonites?)?

If you're going to post a link to YouTube or wherever, please take an extra 10 seconds and add a brief description of what the link is.

Thank you.

So weird seeing the Linux kernel at 6.10. I remember when 2.4 was coming out and it was such a massive deal over 2.2.

Yes, I'm old as dirt.

I've been using google workspaces for my company email/calendar/meetings. Been pretty happy with it. However, I made the switch to wayland/hyprland on my main PC and discovered that Google Meet won't let me share screen with multiple monitors. Doesn't work no matter the browser. Searched for solutions. No luck. Could get it to work by only using one monitor but whats the fun in that?

Then I remembered that Nextcloud has their Talk app. I have a an instance with hetzner running.

Fired it up on Firefox for a couple meetings and it works freaking great. Screenshare to my hearts content.

Only issue was video occasionally got a tiny bit laggy on one call but for the price you can't beat it and the problem could be on users end. Not sure.

Thanks Nextcloud. You rock.

Got a question for the Linux community.

Are there any write ups on medium sized businesses (or large enterprises) using Linux for their entire IT stack. From desktops to servers and everything in between.

I've used Linux as many primary desktop since 2001 and self host all my home services on Linux.

With all the problems Microsoft is having lately and how they seem to be going hard down the path of enshittification I was thinking this would be an excellent time to promote Linux for the enterprise.

Write ups and examples of organizations doing this would be very helpful.

Anybody know if this sort of information exists in a good format to supply to organizations?
