Here are the 3 main reasons people tag folks, repost, comment, etc. with your professional content on social media:

  1. I want to share and provide value (and this is valuable) to my field.

  1. It helps me articulate a strongly-held belief.

  1. It acts as social signaling to reinforce my belonging to an in-group.

Does your content align with social expectations?

Mine doesn't. I post to regulate my ADHD. Sharing what I learn brings joy...and I have a degree in sociology & I get to use it.

Content accessibility PSA:

You might have preferences (ahem, unconscious bias). As a result, something that seems easy to understand or accessible to you is not accessible for other people.

Here is my foolproof 10 step email management process:

Fear logging into email.

See email.

Stress.

Read email preview.

Snooze email.

Think about email.

Feel bad for ignoring email.

Contemplate taking action. Don’t.

Guilt and shame.

Repeat.

The concept of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) has been around for as long as machine learning has. Embedding your data in your model prompts is still complex for most marketing departments but it opens the doors for a lot of great things.

Seth Godin's post Further vs. faster got me thinking.

Pick a race when presenting data to stakeholders:

  1. Sprint: when you need quick buy-in, immediate action, or crisis response

  1. Marathon: when building long-term strategies, cultural change, or complex transformations

I want the ebook, not the nonstop sales emails.

If it's good, I will like your brand. Doesn't mean I'm ready for the sales emails though.

Sometimes, the numbers are just wrong. But sometimes, it's the way the data is collected, how it's interpreted or how it's presented.

If you use Chrome for work, read this:

  1. You can find any tabs using too much memory in the task manager.

  1. Chrome will automatically suspend inactive tabs. Use the Always keep these sites active list for your work stuff.

  1. Settings > Performance > Power. To prioritize laptop battery life, toggle Energy Saver.

Find this useful? Share it with another Chrome user.

If you are prompting an LLM for keyword clustering and want to improve the output, include the following:

  1. Provide the website focus

  1. Provide the sitemap (you know, the big sections of your site)

  1. Important aspects related to the brand: brand differentiators, best sellers, what have you.

Continental drift: even dead dinosaurs understood the importance of location, location, location. This visualization helps shine a light on relationships between fossil locations and geological time periods that might not be obvious in raw coordinate data.

Data literacy 101: average means 3 different things.

It means mean, median and mode. When we see average by itself, it usually refers to the mean average but you can't know for sure. When you have a lot of outliers, the median does a better job at representing a whole lot of data with one number.

Everyone talks about winning search awards.

I get to peak behind the curtain as a judge this year.

Make great PDF storytelling accessible and you get my attention faster. Tada, here's a tip for agencies entering.

The top-grossing film list of 2024 screams creative bankruptcy meets second-screen viewing habits.

18 of the top 20 films were either sequels or IP spin-offs.

Now that I said this, have you heard of the Sequelisers? They do it better.

Data storytelling is what helped me from "I told you so" to being actually asked why things would be a good or bad idea before they happen.

It's the bridge between being technically right and actually influencing the outcome.

Took me quite a while to figure out these two are not the same.
