We found this weird growth on a log while walking in North Beach Park here in Seattle. Anyone recognize what this is? Fungus? It doesn’t look like other slime molds I’ve met, but it is kinda slimy.

I put a video on YouTube of me playing O’Farrell’s Welcome to Limerick on my guitar. This tune was first published in a collection in 1804. Someone put a copyright claim on my video saying they owned the publishing to this tune which they think was composed by “Dave Miller”. Needless to say I am now exploring a Peertube account because I don’t have the time in my life to waste explaining the concept of public domain to Google and the idiot scammers they enable.

He may not be the next Vice President, but today I made Tim Walz’ tater tot hotdish anyway. I don’t eat turkey or bacon, so instead I used a plant-based fake chicken product, and a mushroom-based fake bacon product. Basically this dish is a green bean casserole, but it adds turkey and bacon, and the mushroom and onion béchamel gets cheese melted in it. And there are tater-tots. It’s overboard delicious.

There is a lot of finger pointing and blame going around among Democrats right now, and that is not particularly useful. What is more useful is ideas about how the party might conduct itself in the future to not get blindsided by the electorate.

Here’s my thought: Every single election for every office the Democratic party is hoping to win should have an open competitive and robust primary fight that can illuminate the mood of the electorate.
