Maybe someone should make a list of all the things the US oligarchs' #AI chatbots won't talk about so we can compare with China's #DeepSeek.
We certainly can't expect mainstream media to do that.
I'm serious, all these models need to be characterised and compared on not just how rubbish they are, but the censorship and distortions they are being used to implement.
Same for the social media platforms etc.

Once a week I have a day when I don't work on code or 'weekday' tasks. I try mostly to just be, and not think much.
Inevitably, I spend about an hour thinking about the project (currently dweb) which means each week, the list of things I'd like to implement grows faster than the code I write on the other days!
Often, I also have ideas that improve the design or UX.
I take three dog-walk breaks during each 'work' day too.
Stepping away and mostly not thinking improves quality and productivity

Imagine if that cool Google Wave demo had not been discontinued and we were using it for everything.
We'd really be up shit creek now. No need for Microsoft Recall
Luckily #GoogleWave didn't scale, but a truly #p2p version, secure, private and without Google starts to look possible. 🤔
Must finish current project.
Must finish current project.
Must finish current project.

I notice the UK government are still clinging to the myth of anonymised data.
Now an #AI boost to growth is the excuse for giving all the data they hold on UK citizens (not just our most sensitive #NHS data) to private companies to stuff into their bullshit AI for bullshit growth of bullshit jobs and unaccountable subjugation.
There will be no question of opt in consent, which means all this is without consent.

Apparently it's time I got some understanding of Arc, RwLock and Mutex, because I can't figure out if I need Arc to use concread::ARCache from #async functions.
It says it's a replacement for the latter two, but the only example I found wraps it in an Arc.

So frequently conversations on here feel like I'm taking to an LLM rather than a human.
I get that many humans read and respond to what they want rather than the words in front of them.
But among technical folk, how the hell do they ever build anything that works?
At least my computer understands me

[#]Autonomi have announced their decentralised peer-to-peer storage network.
The big deal here is:

Looking at #RustLang #caching crates and each one looks better than the last!
I'm also struck by the humility and respect for earlier crates in the docs.
Sill looking, but liking #quick_cache.

My #dweb design hit a brick wall a couple of days ago, a restriction on subdomain/domain name lengths I hadn't anticipated.
This meant that I might not be able to implement decentralised websites at all, at least without a custom browser (too big a project for me).
There was an avenue I hadn't wanted to explore, using cookies, so began listing options to look at.
As soon as I'd written 'cookies' I had another idea, and it is much better than the original
Phew! 😌
And my earlier work stands!

Steady (aka slow ) progress as I learn how to get #Actix to handle multiple domains and routes on a single server, including domains which include parameters.
Why am I doing this?
😂
For #dweb of course, to enable websites to be published to #p2p #Autonomi and served in a standard web browser.
Versioned websites that is! Every version ever published using dweb, viewable using dweb!

It's surprising how good completing fairly small tasks can make me feel, especially when they've been waiting for a while.
And tasks of a certain kind, which tidy up several loose ends into a neat solution. Such as, after days of sketching it out, eventually settling on a module structure for a #RustLang project and putting the empty files in place.
PS I still use mod.rs files on the whole as I don't like directories and module files with similar names all over the place.

Today I added a "Share on #Mastodon" button to my #Publii blog, and fixed the "Follow" icon I had implemented using a crude hack.
The former saved me Euro 29 for an overpriced plugin. Let me know if you want to know how to do this for free yourself.
This is what I do when recovering from a nasty illness
As well as work on #Autonomi #p2p #dweb that is, the reason I have a blog.

To get me to pay them money, #TheGuardian told me how many articles I read this year.
Tracking me without my consent. 🤔
That'll be a no then. #Ethics and meeting legal obligations are important to me, a simple test for deserving support, especially in #journalism.
They're still embedding Tweets as well. 🤦♂️

It surprises me how often I find bugs and unforeseen problems with my designs when I'm in bed and supposed to be sleeping.
It's also weird that I often work out a way forward almost right away.
Last night it was something that I came up with months ago, and was about to start implementing and...
🧠: no mate, it won't work because...
🧠: 🤔
🧠: how about trying...
Then I fall asleep.
