TIL my toothless 21yo cat goes nuts for roasted unsalted peanuts. She chews them on her gums and is frantic for more (no worries, I am not giving her more). Such a weirdo 😹

I‘m probably not alone feeling overwhelmed by the outlook to 2025, where democracy will be hollowed out even more, news outlets will become mostly trustunworthy and the covid pandemic being trumped by a bird flu outbreak (pun intended). To feel a little less helpless, I donated to some institutions that to me present hope:

• Wikipedia

• Correctiv

• Netzpolitik

• Bellingcat

While figuring out what I can personally do I want to support those that are already in the thick of it.

I was staying with a friend in Berlin. Turned out he had a cold. I said slightly irritated that he should have told me as I would have stayed with my father instead. „But I‘m already feeling better!“

And guess who has a fat cold now? Test is negative. But I still will not willingly hand it over to the next best person.

Why is it so hard to understand that I also don’t want your other viruses? If you are sick, keep to yourself! And #MaskUp! It also helps against the spread of colds and the flu!

As someone who had #LongCovid bad enough to not be able to work for almost a year and now still fighting with some symptoms, I can only say, this is exactly how I felt and feel. Be assured, there are people around you that are in that exact situation. And with every infection your risk increases!

Within 60 seconds of sitting in the bed I am double occupied in my second job as a cat pillow. The two sitting like this - bum to bum with a duvet in between, happily ignoring each other - is making me laugh every time.

Another unpopular opinion, probably.

I hate Halloween in Europe. It just feels unnatural to me here. It’s all a commercial sales pitch. I get the costumes (naturally, as a Cologne bred carnevalist). But the rest. Brrrr.

We will lock all doors, turn off the lights and hide on the top floor like scared chicken, so nobody gets offended, we aren’t trick or treating.
