maybe I'll just stop composting. i do not have the patience to get all the stuff out of the bin and clean it off so it can go back in recycling. if someone moves the recycling to trash at least it still gets picked up.

At 7th & Howard today, I watched a DPW truck barrel to a stop halfway through the crosswalk. A short-ish woman in the crosswalk, three steps from where the truck came to rest, walked straight through, the grill of the truck brushing her arm. A step before, she turned and glared, then mean-mugged the driver for the entire walk in front, her face barely visible to the driver above the top of the hood.

I switched from @Vivaldi back to Chrome at work. We use Google Meet and the screen sharing experience for GMeet in Vivaldi has been very wonky for several months. I didn't wanna do it.

cops have been by twice in 20 minutes to chase off the homeless folks at 6th & Natoma.

One thing I've noticed since Martin was overturned is that sweeps on my street no longer include any departments besides police.

I'm writing a 2025 goals blog post. Then I'm going to sit on it a bit because my goals are probably too ambitious. Individually, none of them will be difficult. Taken together though, it's a lot. The gist though is doing things a lot more intentionally.

How are you thinking about goals for 2025? I don't mean, what goals are on your list. I mean, how are you going about coming up with goals, planning them, holding yourself accountable for them, etc.

(If you are not, or you hate goal-setting or otherwise want to shit on the practice, sit this one out.)

Exercise likely doesn't burn more calories than a sedentary life. Which means that diet is the primary way to control one's weight.

But.... we know that diets rarely work for long term weight loss. So how does a person who wants to stay slim do so?

It does tend to add even more evidence to point away from shaming fat people. It would be very much like shaming people for being bald.
