My deepest condolences to the UK news broadcasters.

As they used 50%+ of their broadcasts to coverage of the US Presidential election, they will have a huge coverage hole to fill.

Oh no, silly me, they will use it for weeks of election analysis.

Monarchy.

I heard (what I thought was) a strange comment from an Australian being interviewed about monarchy v republic. He commented that one of the arguments against a Republic(in Australia) was the cost of a president. 🤷‍♀️ Surely that would be offset by the amount they contribute to the monarchy. I assume they, and other countries, do contribute?

So, the true face of Labour. Harassing seriously mentally ill patients to get them back to work.

They really just see people as economic producing units - to be disposed of when no longer economically active.

And there it is in the last 2 lines, in case you were in any doubt:

"A plan that considers every aspect of what the state does and why it does it.

A plan built on the principles and priorities of our Nation.

A plan that looks at our international agreements. At the Human Rights Act. The Equality Act at Judicial review and judicial activism. At the Treasury and the Bank of England. At devolution and Quangos. At the Civil Service and the Health Service."

So, now we have the figures for the #Westminster seats in the North of #Scotland and how they will be affected by the withdrawal of the #WinterFuelPayment.

Unlike #ScroungerStarmer, these elderly people won't have #RichDonors to stop them from getting #hypothermia this winter.

Still Yes. Still no reason to change my mind - if anything, over the last 10 years, I've seen even more need for #ScottishIndependence.

All my life, we've been told that the reason people in the H&I have to pay the highest prices for our energy is because we are so far away from the generation source.

Now that we are in the middle of the largest generation source, in the UK, we still have to pay the highest price for our energy.

See the problem?

Anyone remember when Gordon Brown (Labour) raised the pensions by a measly 25p a week?

Why are we so surprised at Labour scrapping the winter fuel payment for pensioners?

Just remember:

1997 - Things can only get better, Labour voted into power

1998 - Labour introduced tuition fees - there was no mention of this in their manifesto

2024 - Labour voted into power

2024 (so far, there will be more) cuts, cuts, cuts including the removal of Winter Fuel Payment for pensioners - none of that was in their manifesto either

Here she is, contemplating life, or more importantly, why did her humans have to do a #PostalVote and deny her the opportunity of being a #dogsatpollingstations

Reading the #BBC news site, you would be forgiven for thinking that it was solely in Scotland that #PostalVotes were delayed. Its covered in the Scottish section but not elsewhere.

I went looking and found this in #TheTelegraph. Apparently its throughout #BrokenBritain, not just #Scotland.

Normally I wouldn't share TheTorygraph but exceptions can be made.

Interesting observations on our ballot paper:

1 the 2 men gave their home addresses

2 the females had a note that their address was within the constituency (except Labour)

3 the Labour candidate has an address in Lewisham in London.

I guess Labour are really trying to prove they're #LondonLabour. And for those who don't know - London is near the bottom of the UK, our constituency is the most northerly of the Scottish mainland.

I'm listening to #music.

Ever since I got #Menieres I haven't really enjoyed listening to music, but my Menieres seems to be quite settled at the moment, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm really enjoying the experience.

I suspect we won't see any of the purdah-delayed policies until after the summer recess of the Scottish Parliament.

I didn't realise how much the calling of the election (and purdah) affected the business of the #ScottishParliament.

Eg

Finally, the Energy Strategy and Just Transition Plan and Oil and Gas Policy publications, as raised at First Minister’s Questions. The publication of a new Government Energy Strategy and position on oil and gas, as a reserved policy, with cross-border and local implications in this General Election, should not take place during the pre-election period

Sound asleep, snoring her wee head off.

She did herself proud at our village gala. Loved the pipes and drums, not phased by the people, even dragged me to say hello to another dog (she's normally a bit reactive). As time went on she loved it even more as there were lots of bits of dropped food.
