Tweaking #linux memory management and #zram swap with regularly triggered (!) recompression and compaction brought, for now, the fun back. My 8yo system with 4 GiB RAM works, at least for now, like a charm, even with a browser, mail client and two electron shells running. I did not think that it was possible. This is mind boggling.

So, my personalized #ublue #bluebuild image factory is set up and awaits both more configuration and hardening of recipes. Two systems are using said images already for testing and I'll try a customized iso installation in the next couple of days.

Exciting!

Perhaps a CoreOS recipe is also needed for VMs and a private runner for building said images?

I really need to eep, now. :awesome:

Der Mann möchte nun auch von #Windows weg. Er hatte schon einmal kurzzeitig ein Linux Mint vor ca. 6 Jahren auf dem Rechner. Ich bin am überlegen, ob für seinen relativ aktuellen (<2 Jahre) ASUS Laptop mit Zen 3 CPU sowie diskreter #Nvidia GPU eine gaming-orientierte Distribution wie #Bazzite (#Fedora-Derivat mit rpm-ostree = Image-basiert!) oder #Nobara (ebenso ein Fedora, klassisch Paket-basiert) besser passt oder doch das #Ubuntu-Derivat #LinuxMint mit einem zusätzlich installierten #Steam.
