Last night’s dream: I was asked to give an impromptu lecture on Mapping and the university hadn’t booked a room so the class was held outside a Chinese restaurant and I had to write on their window instead of a whiteboard, which erased their signage, and I had to repay them myself. Now that I come to think of it, it was a pretty good lecture, all things considered.

Does anyone have botanical French and would be willing to read through a few chapters in French and the only available English translation to see if the translator has changed much?

Happy rant Saturday.
Please stop AI. Stop mentioning it, stop using it, stop powering it with the dead souls of children and bunnies! It is just machine learning on better setups than they had in the 90s. Itt is a solution looking for a problem, and that is a recipe for an ongoing disaster.

The Internet Archive, home to many books and sources now out of copyright and generally unavailable, is in dispute with major publishers who do not like them lending out digital copies of books that are in copyright the way a library does. Coincidentally, it is under a massive DDOS. Just sayin'.
They need support to repair the damage. I am not able to, but maybe you are? They are a not-for-profit organisation.

Quentin Ruyant is a postdoc doing some wonderful reviews and discussions of hard philosophy of science. This one is on van Fraassen's semantic view of theories. He has previously covered the Sneed-Stegmüller and subsequent structuralisms, and of course Suppe's semanticism before Van F.
