Well, Stage 1 is complete. :) I just released ShrimpMoss (虾苔), a dataset designed to abliterate Chinese #censorship and propaganda finetunes from models.

So, I decided to do a clustering analysis on Icelandic political parties ahead of the upcoming election on Saturday. I actually had to shrink the dots because Píratar and Samfylkingin were so tightly clustered ;)

Just finished my latest project.

Reading the news about the political situation in the US often feels like looking through a portal into the Upside-Down; a twisted version of reality that feels unreal, yet is regardless very real. On my mind recently: the disturbing number of anti-#trans bills currently circulating through the various legislatures- so many that it's hard to keep track.

So I spent way too long making a song that sums each of them up.

With the success of the water cooling operation comes more good news; the rate of lava flow westwards has now decreased, with the primary flows now moving north and east.

Knock on wood, but if current efforts are maintained we're probably in the clear from this #eruption :)

Still rebuilding to do.

Video of one of the twelve hoses installed on the L3 berm in operation. The berm here is now 12-14 meters tall, and growing. The lava outside rose 2 to 2 1/2 meters last night, but that's slower than before.

The crust on the lava is about 2-3 meters thick, but underneath it's hot and pressurized.

The lava cooling operation appears to have been a success. While the water will need to continue - 26 thousand litres per second, enough to fill an Olympic swimming pool every 1 1/2 minutes - work today is expected to increase the height of the L3 berm atop the lava currently being cooled.

The eruption is slowly weakening, though isn't in a rush to end. Primarily of note, the central crater (of three) has significantly declined overnight.

The situation at the L3 berm is described as "sensitive". They're prepping for the situation where lava overtops it, and have started burying the hot water pipe inside the protected area.

Cavalry is hopefully coming to the rescue, though. Water pumping is expected to start shortly.

Remember that just because you see rock doesn't mean there's not flowing lava; it only flows on the surface when there's high flow rates or near the vent. Otherwise, the crust solidifies, rigid. Presure builds up inside, inflating and cracking the crust until it bursts and a lobe of lava pours out.
