Gute Nacht, Valheim.

Sev got himself into trouble looking at a first stretch of Swamp, hoping to find some crypts.

No luck.

Instead, he found two 2* draugr. That was... bad.

Got things sorted, with some luck, so more exploration tomorrow.

Gute Nacht, Freunde.

No writing.

Still dealing with emotional fallout. And I give myself permission to feel what I'm feeling about the state of the world.

I'm getting closer to putting Terragon's Fate into my store, so there's that.

I also researched a bit for a new Wolf short story that will involve Woodstock.

Tomorrow is a new day!

[#]PhantastikPrompts 21.01.:

Existieren übernatürliche Kräfte (z.B. Magie, Telepathie) in deiner Geschichte?

New review for "Sun Burns", but the reviewer speaks for the whole series:

"I've enjoyed ALL the characters' own stories [...] Am re-reading the series now waiting for #8 and picking up on details I missed on the first romp thru the 7 books."

This warms my heart in the difficult times we face. If you like feel-good stories, this series is for you!

Book 1- "South Breaks" - is free!

Gute Nacht, Freunde.

No writing today, either.

I posted my good-bye on FB and started to learn how to work the bridge to Bluesky. Figuring out to get my friends to start using the bridge, as well.

I also met with my mastermind buddy and we chatted for two hours, about books, plotting and Amazon ads. It's so lovely, and I really needed that.

Energy was low today, so I'm glad I managed what I did.

I should be able to put Terragon's Fate into my store tomorrow.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 1/20 Do any of your stories take place on the sea?

I have a short story that takes place IN the sea: "Pu'ukani's Song".

There's also "North Shatters", part of that takes place on the sea. "Moon Rises", the book I'll be writing next, will definitely have chapters on the sea, as well. (Winds & Pillars)

It's fun because I know how to sail, I took lessons at Uni sports center. And I live on the Baltic Shore, although my preferred landscape are forests.

[#]PhantastikPrompts 20.01.

[#]WordWeavers Jan 20. Do you feel the Covid pandemic has affected your writing and stories? If so, how?

Yes, it has.

The lockdown and the years of 100% home office were among the best in my life. I could discover and adhere to a daily schedule that worked perfectly for me.

In 2021 I wrote over half a million words and published the first six Wolf books.

I never managed to get back to that level of productivity after being forced back to the office for two days a week.

German can be a very descriptive language. For example, we talk about "jemandem Aufmerksamkeit schenken".

The literal translation is "to gift someone with your attention".

So maybe today is the day to think about who you want to gift your valuable attention - who deserves it?

I, for my part, will gift my attention to my friends (mostly here on Mastodon), possibly my writing, and most likely my Valheim characters.

Yes, it's self-care.

A huge hello to all my new Bluesky followers - thank you!

Right now, I can't follow you back, because I don't get notifications correctly. I hope that if you comment on this post, it'll open up the bridge and lets me follow back.

Good post by Kris Rusch about Neil Gaiman and the Permission Structure that allows such men to thrive until things get too horrible.

There's a lot of experience in the book world behind this article. (Free to read.)

I just nuked my FB pages.

Told people I'm leaving, told them where to find me.

FB mangles the Bluesky bridge handle. Of course, it does, and people now get the impression the "link" doesn't work".

Yes, FB is evil.

[#]PennedPossibilities 562 — Do you have a writing routine?

I don't think so.

I mean, I open my file, add the date (for my word count) and then write or not.

That's all.

I don't have special music, I don't have a writing hat (yes, I saw someone use one once), I don't do anything else to "prime" myself.

I either write, or I don't.

(Sometimes, I wish I had a sure-fire start-writing button.)

Gute Nacht, Valheim.

Sev Twink went on a long sailing trip to reach the Elder summoning spot. Miraculously, he found a passage through a barrier continent right away.

Elder fight didn't go entirely smoothly, there was one death, and thus the fight stretched into the night, with a million greydwarves interrupting. A pox on them!

Sev persevered, however, and has set up the trophy on the standing stones. Now the Swamp awaits!

Gute Nacht, Freunde.

No writing.

I took the day off, to decompress, to read, to play Valheim.

Refilling the well is part of being creative. (I have to tell myself that, too.)

And tomorrow... I'll upload Terragon's Fate for preorder, starting with my store.

[#]WordWeavers 1/19—How honest is your MC when honesty will get them into trouble?

Lucky is pragmatic. He lies when necessary to avoid trouble. He just wishes he were better at noticing when he is being lied to.

Heather is a practiced liar. She wouldn't have survived in her pack as long as she has without hiding almost everything about herself.

On the other hand, she doesn't want to lie to Lucky. But she does...

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 1/19: Did you find a way through the maze of traditional publishing to get your book published? What’s your secret?

I did get a few short stories published, mostly by being in an author group organizing anthologies. (This was in Germany.)

I even had a German literary agent for a few years, but they did nothing for me, and we ended the contract eventually.

I'm no longer in the trad market. I love self-publishing, love the control, would never go back.

[#]PhantastikPrompts 19.2.

[#]PennedPossibilities 561 — Give us your thoughts on the genre of your WIP. Do you love it, is there not enough stories written within it, are you an avid reader of the genre, etc.?

Currently I'm writing wolf shifters with adventure and some romance (yes, they become mates in the end).

There's a LOT of shifter romance, but most of it falls to the alpha trope (omega is even worse!). Some have alphas but paint them better. Mine... well, the alphas are the enemy.
