Might try putting some kind of decoration along the join, might not. It's just something to wear at home and to keep my hands busy, after all.

A very silly floofy warping ruffle that then irons out into a nice crisp ruffle, while remaining incredibly full. I hope it will nicely drape across a tiny huddling woman (me) when it's cold!

It's one of those techniques that makes your ruffle absolutely not settle at all in any way before you've sewn it on and ironed it. Bonus points for linen wanting to be very lively!

Meanwhile. I'm winding down from the thinky process of the jacket by doing rolled hem gathering by hand on this ruffle I'm meaning to put on a shawl. It's a good thing I was aiming for the aesthetic of "bog witch goes clothes shopping without glasses" because it's for home use... Because it sure does look absolutely bonkers right now. 😅

A barrage of cat photo and gif toots reboosted from me, for the evening crowd. Please enjoy the cats and/or my sometimes very flowery alt text should you find cats cute!

Meanwhile, in the trials of the sleeves: I've finally got the arm's eyes roughly where I can live with them. The sleeve gathering at the front is also acceptable, though I'll need to fuss with the back section of them some more. But it might very well still become a jacket. The movement is fairly good, too, but I think I'll unpick a bunch of stuff to add a sort of shoulder yoke reinforcement to carry more of the sleeve weight and the padding! (Fitting gifs.)

It took me digging back months and months of my bookmarks (and reboosted some stuff from along the way), but I finally got to these gifs!
I felt they may be needed again.

The sleeve trials, they continue.
I swear I almost fixed the back of the side I'm now fitting and yet. And yet. The top sleeve head just safety pinned on, here.
Unsurprisingly the problems are different from the other arm's eye, which is almost okay now. Time to stare at these video clips very hard, I guess. (Fitting gifs.)

I was trying to find a specific cat photo to boost again, but came across a bunch of other ones instead. Perhaps it's time to keep sewing.

Today, in the theme of: "Please don't move before I've managed a photo, please..."
The boys, they are cute.

(Almost the entirety of the meme is that I have absolutely no clue about the passage of time. The rest of it is that at one time complained that troubleshooting was a lie because there was always another problem behind the first one and made a shitty motivational graphic about it.)

There's something very cathartic and enjoyable about making shitty graphic design for fun based on a very very niche inside of an acquaintance group meme. I wish I'd had the sense to tag the previous ones in the series, but I didn't.

Please enjoy this little graphic I made at midnight last night, stuck under a sleeping cat. For the extra soupiness of time, I used both very early Myspace aesthetics and a photo I took in 2005.
Just in time for February, too!

I'm definitely never ever making any type of complex open jacket thing ever again. The second sleeve is not on, though there's only a little bit of adjustment I need to make until I can try to put it on. (And when I say little I mean there's a centimetre to shift, there's some four layers of unpicking until I can get to it.)
I'm just not at all enjoying this. It would be so much easier if someone else could just fucking fit this thing on me but I don't know anyone in my city who knows how! 😭

It's all sewn down with machine basting stitches now, so it's not perfect nor can be, but you can see the fit well enough to unpick where necessary etc.
Also I've been using a different colour thread for the gathering stitches, the basting, the stay-stitches and the actual stitching. So I can see what the bloody hell line of sewing I'm actually looking at!

For my sanity I absolutely need to stop working on this sleeve and arm's eye, now. 😆 It no longer deeply offends my sensibilities, doesn't horribly go wrong when I move, and the sleeve head sits alright enough that I can baste it down (it's just on with safety pins here). Then heat-form a bone and slap it on all along the side back seam for good measure. And see about the other sleeve, small gods of sewing preserve me. 😶 (Fitting gifs.)

Oh. Perhaps relevant, in case someone's curious. The ad was for a friend who did glass jewellery in her spare time, and I had another friend model a necklace of hers and dance on the video. The wardrobe was this one dress from my many many thrift shop finds. Did stay firmly within the budget I set for myself, lol.

Anyway. He plays like seven different instruments whenever he has the time and remembers to (not often, I think) but it's just funny to me. The little composition sounded actually very nice to me, a person who does not play the saxophone and only played piano a little bit and sings, and everyone else liked it too.
It's very convenient to know people who know how to do stuff.

Somehow I managed to hit some magical zone of ADHD and life and music, where he just did it kind of right away and sent me the music. Just a little recording, barely touched up, of a nice and ambient little composition with hopeful tones. "I'll do it again at some point, but you can probably edit to this."
And indeed I could. I edited to it, he never remembered to record, edit nor send me the finished one, so one of my graded work now and forever is tracked to the rough draft of some random sax. 😆

A random memory surfaces. I was working on the final of the video & directing class one year, where we had to make an exactly 20 or 30 second long ad, I don't remember which. Had to source a product, write, direct, shoot and edit the video for it. (Making a very short video is an art. Another year I filmed and edited a three hour long play!)
Anyway. I needed music for it and messaged my older brother like: "Could you noodle something slow and hopeful on the saxophone for me?" He said yes.
