This documentary gives some women of Borkum an anonymous voice who say loud what others do not dare to say: they don’t want their bottoms to be beaten on #Klaasohm. This comes as no surprise to me and the journalists visit some guys in Austria with a similar festival that somehow managed to modernise it.

The pictures we see fit our times: drunk raging men insist on their anachronistic privileges. Conservatism holds on “tradition” protecting their distorted image of a fading shitty past.

In the night men chase women in the streets and hold them until one of the few chosen Klaasohms, men dressed in traditional monster costume, beat their bottoms very hard with a bovine horn. Journalists try to interview the mayor or the men only organisers, but nobody wants to. 1/2

Jetzt hab ich‘s verstanden: Wenn Wolfgang Kubicki aufgefordert wurde mal „Bilanz zu ziehen“ hat er Plattdeutsch „Bi Lanz ziehen“ verstanden und ist zu Markus Lanz in die Sendung gezogen.

Lese gerade weiter in @afelia​s „Die neue Schule der Demokratie“. In Zeiten der Polykrisen finde ich folgende Aussage über das langsame, komplexe Denken bemerkenswert: Es gibt „zwei Wege, unzulässigen Vereinfachungen im Denken zu begegnen. Der erste besteht darin, Stress abzubauen, um besser mit Komplexität umgehen zu können. Und der zweite in der Gewöhnung an Komplexität.“

Also erst mal durchatmen, runterkommen und ein Buch lesen.
