The Rt Hon. Trudeau is now on the path back to private life after giving his all to the Canadian people. Yes, there's tears. Yes, it was hard fought. Yes, it went to the final bell. But, the best fights are the ones that are hardest fought and toughest won.
It was a pleasure being but a small (very small) part of it.
May more Canadians serve like Trudeau did, and all of the incredible folks who help make it happen be proud of an incredible decade of leading the Canadian people!

After all is said and done, I was off the train just a little bit ahead of time compared to my friends and colleagues.
But it was a fun. And, on reflection, such a rewarding part of a life: to be able to give to the public some service above self, then make good on one's promises and then return back to the proverbial plow.

What a decade!
From 2012 to 2019 I was part of an incredible political movement: the Trudeau Team.
Starting as a volunteer, then in a MLA's constituency office, some time as a parliamentary staffer in the House of Commons, then an employee of the executive branch and then finally capping it all off back in the constituency...
... that last step (2019's election with the mighty Kent Hehr) ended in a solid booting from the political arena.

No, I am not running for anything in 2025.
(Context: there is a municipal [#yycvote, #yyccc] and a federal election [#elxn45, #cdnpoli] scheduled for my neighbourhood next year. 2027 is the next [scheduled] provincial election [#ableg]. It's a busy, busy time.)

For context, Mr. Butts served as the principal secretary for Trudeau for half a decade. He saw the swing in 2015, recruited dozens (hundreds?) of candidates in the run up to that election, and was a rather important link in the chain that pulled the Liberal team out of the ditch after a rather rough 2011 election.
Reading him this morning is pensive reading. Would recommend giving his thoughts in his Substack a read, particularly with the current shifts taking place in our nation's politics.
