Planted peas and fava beans in my raised beds. It feels both odd not putting seeds in the ground, and wonderful to plant at all!

I think I'm going to purchase a cold frame. Leaning towards one with an auto-opening window as my mobility issues make prioritizing opening /closing dicey. Anyone have any advice?

Air pruning boxes are a way of growing trees, bushes & perennials that need to have their seeds acted on by the cold & wet to sprout. This year we are trying goji seeds, sea kale, good king henry and Turkish rocket in the boxes. The design comes from Akiva Silver at Twisted-Tree.net

Past success includes comfrey, oregano, peaches, sea plums, cherries, aronia & mulberry in case you are thinking about what to do with them

Ann Wilson & EmmyLou Harris checking out the pumpkin 🎃

Ann & her sister Nancy are black Marans hens. EmmyLou is a green-egg laying mix. She's mostly white with black & brown on her ruff, back & wings. I'm not sure how to describe her coloring If somebody with #chicken experience wants to chime in?. She has fun feathery puffs on her face.

This wasn't a jack o' lantern; the girls hollowed it out themselves. Pictured is Opal. She's a blue-laced red Wyandotte hen.

So between my disability issues & having the septic die which necessitated machines going through my gardens, I am regrouping & restarting. One of my changes is being more cognizant of #permaculture zones. Zone 1 is right outside the door; my wheelchair accessible raised beds are going in near the house. I dumped in old #YearRoundGardening seeds & we have sprouts!
