It's tragicomic the timing of Mozilla pulling out of the fediverse and doubling down on gen AI. Like a Wile E. Coyote sketch.

I think all the new people taking their first steps here are pretty cute :3 (in a puppy way)

Pot of gold at Crown Casino? All in on black? Unfortunately not a newfangled doomsday space laser. I checked. #SydneyWeatherTooting

Jesus Christ Superstar was a gritty reboot.

Skipping 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' on playthrough, because I'm an ally.

I feel that past a certain point, once our immediate needs are met, our tastes, expectations and spendings rise in line with our earnings, to the point where you never feel comfortable or well off, no matter how much you earn. I'm also trying to get out ahead of that and put the breaks on, before I make all these financial commitments and expectations that chain me in place.

I should be able to adapt to lower income (and recognise the very strong privelege in this position.)

To be honest the ol' Menty H is the main priority, and projects are an added bonus.

We'll see if I'm as optimistic next pay day, but it's worth a shot.

It's happened. Dropped down to 4 days a week for the next 3 months (at my request, with pay cut). 1.5 hours in and so far I like it more than being at work on a Monday morning. 😋

I'm hopefully going to use this time for "projects", but also going to try not beat myself up about productivity.

The five day work week is an abomination.

When I'm cold and dead

Will he let me be?

Does he love me too?

Does he care for me?

Basically I guess I love a musical where there are two lovers and one of them dies.

Saw Jesus Christ Superstar in Sydney. So good. My favourite non-Mouoin Rouge musical. 🙏♥️

The continuity and film logic in it, honestly, feels like something an 8 year old wrote. Dead bad guy is just... Back. Magic knife incoherently leads to a... Wreckage? In an incredibly unstable environment but that is in the exact state of decomposure. Unlimited resources to build a fleet, piloted by...? Now they're all Death Stars. Is the bad guy the same guy? What?

I've seen it three times and this is still where I'm at.

Counter thought, I can't believe Rise of Skywalker happened. Not just that I despise its petty politics, but the fact that it passed through any number of people with the power to intervene, but at no point did anyone say "this film makes absolutely no fucking sense."

[#]Severance may become the next Game of Thrones, in terms of scale and cultural grip, but it's not guaranteed (because of the public, not because of the show!) It definitely has the chops to. At any rate, it feels like somebody put what I like in a blender and Severance came out, and it cuts right through me. I'm sure everyone who likes it feels this way, but I kinda feel it was tailor written for me.

I've just signed up for Apple TV for the first time because I loved S1 of #Severance so much (watching at a friend's of course) and wanted to support S2, only to discover there's no Android app and I can't Chromecast. I'm... not sure I'll be continuing past the trial. Back to my... friend's, probably.

Have only seen a few summaries of the Biden speech but it sounds like the most absurd instance of "this is what needs to happen" coming from the outgoing president of the United States of America. Like, yes, but also. Dude.

Cryptocurrencies follow the rules of my favourite kind of theistic fiction: their power is fuelled by belief; as their strength of belief grows their power grows, but the inverse is also true.
