FA was edited by the so called Austrian office which consisted of Austrians from all political parties who lived in exile in GB during #ww2. With their articles they tried to support Great Britain's fight against National Socialists and promote an indipendent Austrian identity.

(1/3) When "Charb" Stéphane Charbonnier was gunned down on Jan 7th, he was 48 years old. Friends described him as intelligent, kind & gentle, but also stubborn. 2 days prior to his death, he had completed the essay Open Letter, in wich he analyzed the problematic term #islamophobia, gladly used by islamists, leaders like Erdogan & leftists wo relativize terrorism & de-ligitimize the hard-fought tradition of criticism of religion. He was also accused of beeing islamophobic.

Walter Benjamin's library card for the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris (1940). In this library the philosopher Georges Bataille (known especially for his works "Story of the Eye" and "Inner Experience") with the help of two other librarians hid Benjamin's unfinished work "The Arcades Project" and other documents when the Nazis invaded France in 1940. Some of them were not discovered until 1981 because so thorougly hidden by Bataille and his colleagues.

Many associate typefaces like the German "Fraktur" (blackletter) or "Kurrent" with the 3rd Reich (especially Neo-Nazis). But it was Hitler, who on January 3rd ordered to stop using these German traditional scripts in National Socialist publications & schools. His arguments were antisemitic & historically inaccurate through & through. A great Online Project saves the traces of the internees of #theresienstadt. They include wall drawings & #graffiti, who tell stories about lovesickness or longings for home.
The lines below were written by a resident in Dutch, they tell in a humorous way about a sleepless night because of bedbugs. “Oh bedbug, oh bedbug, oh thou ugly beast, thou dances all night upon me. I lie, the itching […] I feel you creeping. From head to my toes.”
