Si jeûner signifie « se priver d'aliments », peut-on réellement faire autre chose lorsqu'on met fin au jeûne que déjeuner tout court ? Est-ce qu'on peut petit-réveiller ?

The #TuneTuesday this week is #KickBackTunes.

I subscribe to the unorthodox view that Jeff Tweedy & co. were better when they were just a country band. This is one of their better tunes from the period.

But beautiful - the sun shines,

A cardinal sings.

The same amount of money lets a family of four take the train between the two most important stations along the most frequently travelled long-distance route in Canada (Toronto-Montreal) or lets them rent a car, cover gas and parking, and pay for some if not all of a night's lodgings. How is this anything other than completely unhinged?

My favorite track from the "fascist fucker's" first regime. Despair, yes, but hope too, based on a commitment to resist and to work together "to organize something better, something beautiful."

Over the weekend, we finally got around to framing prints (we're not done yet - we've only just begun) we bought over a year ago now. They're from @cabtastic and @minouette. I first came across both artists' work here.

I'm almost into actual book title territory now. Now clean up the syntax and introduce some randomness with respect to formulation.

"Probably the tallest man in the village, who at six feet four inches, towered over everyone else by half a foot."

I love it when historians include small details like this. They often don't explain anything, but they help us better imagine the time, place, and people.

The problem with reading is that it reminds you of all the things you should've already read but haven't while introducing you to a whole set of things you should read but didn't know existed.

I find the current Canadian media obsession with the polar vortex instructive. Yes, it's going to be cold in Quebec and Ontario over the next couple of days. But this is Canada, in January. I will try to keep this in mind when faced with other less obviously overblown stories.

Anyone else just spend a couple hours slapping together a crude humanities book/article title generator? Now to find a long list of short, vaguely profound quotes and maybe I have a bot??
