I would like a term for when people carry their skin to the market, like when people make that which they suffer from the thing they earn their living with: talking/writing about disability, chronic illness, racism, sexism etc. blurring the line between expert and experience.

Overton-Fenster uswusf.

Good contextualisation of the whole Meta-Problem by Julia Angwin. Link in comments.

"This is what it looks like when a mature business runs out of ideas and instead seeks to continue its dominance through money and political power. It is terrible for our information environment and our democracy."

"Migrants captured at sea by militias funded by Europe and detained in buildings funded by the same agency while UNHCR pretends to give hope... refugee camps are not sanctuaries; they are warehouses for lives deemed unworthy. They are prisons in all but name, designed to keep the Black migrant at bay, far from Europe... For those who brave the Mediterranean and step onto European soil, another system of dehumanization awaits. Here, the migrant is refined, like maize ground into fine flour."

"Europe is sick with its own history. It fears me because I am the proof of its sins. It looks at me and sees the lands it pillaged, the people it enslaved, the blood it spilled. It calls me an invader to distract itself from the truth: I am here because it was there. My journey is not an act of trespass—it is the consequence of Europe’s greed."

Our social circles are rootworks that have grown as much by themselves as we have cultivated them. We all are different, want different things, no matter how much we overlap, no matter how much our roots are intertwined. To pluck them out and replant elsewhere will cut off tiny tendrils that might never regrow. I wish people weren't so hard on others about (not) leaving platforms being the right thing to do.

It also makes us raise our heads above daily attention-scrolling and ask: What do we actually want from social platforms? Fast escapist entertainment? Keeping in touch with people you loosely know and with whom you also meet offline? Sharing of knowledge, online friendships, culture, humor with strangers who share your interests and vibes? It's hard to find ways and places to replace that.

Leaving social platforms always shows how bad we are in organizing without them. And by organizing I mean: Staying in touch with a loose network of people, rally them to come with you to a new place, etc.

"Automation is better understood ... as a multi-pronged form of sabotage-from-above to shake up an arrangement where workers held too much power and where new machinery offered a pretext to relocate, reclassify, disorient, and otherwise break solidarity among workers."
