Got up this morning after a solid sleep and had hoped to make it to the chiropractor but lupus had other ideas. 🙃

Therapists' offices in Washington D.C. were a dumpster fire this week. Not one single client, NOT ONE, is sure of their job anymore.

No wonder I'm completely wiped out.

Still, it's Saturday and the sun is out, there is tea, and maybe a trip to the fiber store.

30 years ago when I came out to my oldest brother, he was about to be deployed as a chaplain to a Marine battalion. He wrote me back telling me that his heart was heavy - I needed to repent of my homosexuality.

Monday, this former fundamentalist preacher sat on my couch and bemoaned all the "old, white, straight snowflakes" currently running the country who get "butt hurt at the slightest mention of accomplishments of the BIPOC community or women."

Love won.

Had a morning full of cardiology imaging and a stress test yesterday. Stress tests stress me out, mostly because of post exertion malaise which will mean a day in bed for me today, but the test is done, the malaise will pass, and my oldest brother is visiting this week!

Well, the media black out paid off and we had a really lovely three day weekend despite living just a few miles from where all of it was taking place. I've been making an effort to read more and buried myself in some cozy British mystery series, and embarked on a somewhat complicated but highly satisfying knitting project.

Today is a new day. We may wish what happened hadn't, but it did, and no amount of cozy mysteries and knitting can undo it.

I'm having a lot of fun with these Guernsey fingerless gloves. They are knit flat, but each finger is then sewn up, and the extra stitches are then picked up, so by the time you finish the glove, all the fingers are sewn.

The pictures are enlarged, and the gauge is much smaller than it appears - 7 st/inch, worsted weight on size 2 (US) needles. Might try doing this in the round next time.

Yarn is Purl and Pines worsted, Citrus Grove.

Dinner at a restaurant tonight. After we are seated, a young man is seated at the table next to us. He makes a video call on his phone. No headphones - so he turns up the volume on his phone to match the noise in the restaurant. This creates a buzz in both hearing aids, and i can't hear my friends.

I turn and ask if he has headphones. He sneers. "No." I don't quite know what to say. "Do you want me to end the phone call?" he throws at me. "Yes! Do you mind?" "Yes, I do," he quips.
