Look at the super package @DosFox was so kind to ship me!
I almost lost hope as it spent the good part of a month totally without tracking updates, but here it is, and it looks complete and undamaged.
It looks like I have just found THE project for this year!

Ah interesting! I modified this C64 motherboard to accept 8565 VICs, and with this, the graphical glitches when using a SRAM adapter disappeared! The previous VIC was a 6569r3.

Just placed January's order of PCBs from JLCPCB.
This order is quite small, mainly new revisions of other projects, plus the Lava RSC updater PCB: I still have left a few projects from last December to build, so those will have the priority.
This week I'll also place another mouser order for said projects, as I need some SMD components that I have not in storage...

Yeh! Got to the end of the first ZetaWing by Sarah Jane Avory!!!
My impression is that it is harder than the second, but I generally suck at shmups... So no idea how reliable my opinion is. #C64

Eh, I should try to get around releasing a few of the things I tested this month, at the very least the C64 250407 SRAM adapter. Could come in handy to someone.
Will work on it tomorrow.

Excuse the mess, but I'm re-testing the A500r3 after having put it back together.
Not entirely satisfied by having the HDMI pigtail coming out of a hole in the case in the back, but hey, I found it pre-drilled by the previous user (that also put an R3 inside an A500+ case).
I can say that I'm an opportunistic filler of pre-drilled holes. Which sounds terrible.
One day I'll have to write why I'm so attached to this particular machine, enough to have it always around.

This little fucker.
I finally screwed shut the A500r3 I had around for ages now.
Then I re-tested it. And I heard a faint tik.
No video, no life. Erratic behavior by the power led. 3 hours of troubleshooting and found that the video section is powered through this resistor, and that the voltage after it is also used to pull up the /extclk signal on the Agnus. That wasn't pulled up properly, so an intermittent clock got to the CPU.
This resistor cracked.
On the bright side, with the Mobo out, I finally got around swapping the shoddy socket on the Agnus.

An update on the "experimental" #C64:
Swapped out both CIAs and the CPU for newly made replacements. The VIC-II is the only remnant of the original chipset now (barring glue logic).
I also swapped out the ARMsid for a SIDKick pico, as I wanted to play around with it, especially with the dual SID emulation (even though I will use it with mono output).

Found out that using an HCT to OR the /CAS and /RAS lines for the SRAM module leads to instability on this C64. They are gone with an ALS/LS or F gate.
The same was happening with the other SRAM module I used, found on GitHub, designed for the C64 shortboards. In that one I replaced it with an F gate.
Looking at the schematics (https://github.com/bwack/C64-250407-Replica-KiCad/blob/main/250407_.pdf) and saw C203 in my board is not fitted, I tried with a random 330pF cap directly soldered on the adapter between /CAS and GND. It is now rock solid. I'll do another revision with a proper place for the cap.
Also, seems I am not the first with the issue: https://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=80031

I think we need a thread of people spelling immature things on vintage calculators.
This one is an Olympia CD 101, roughly 1972, found at the flea market this morning, in a box of junk.
It is covered in vintage dirt.

Today someone in the family fell and smashed their face on cobblestones. Trip to emergency ward. Luckily the damage looked much worse than it was, so we got away in relatively little time, with bandages and stitches.
Postman put an envelope "in delivery" but he never got here, so I wasted someone's time by asking them to wait him for me.
Amazon did the same with a package for my parents that they addressed to my house.
Ordered takeaway because I really was not in the right mood for cooking. The restaurant fucked up the order.
4/10, would not live this day again.

The #C64 of Theseus.
The original chipset is slowly getting replaced. If the post doesn't fuck it up, next week the CPU and CIAs will go too and (ignoring glue logic) only the original VIC-II will remain.
For that, I'm considering potential options: I can't make myself a Kawari as the gerbers are not public, and premade ones seems to be out of stock. I could make myself an adapter and mount a newer 85xx, but I'll probably keep the original in here as long as it lives if I can't get a newly made replacement.

Ok, SRAM replacement for the #C64 250407 built in two versions and under test!
Good news is it works!
Bad news, the damn glitch on the title screen of ZetaWing 2 persists! Doesn't matter the timing of the SRAM or the family of the ICs I use.
At this point I need to ask, does anyone here has a PAL C64 with a SRAM mod installed AND ZetaWing 2? I guess it'll be heavily dependant on the motherboard model.
I'd like to know how it behaves for you. My glitch is a flickering lines of pixels under a cloud in the title screen of the game.

This is also ready and installed. The DIP40 socket sits flush with the PCB, the pins going completely through it so it can be plugged on the socket on the motherboard without adding too much height.

Don't mind the "Plus" on the badge, it's very much not so, as this is a junked case that I found together with this A500 rev.3
