Pre-#MARCHintosh (aka “February”) is the perfect time to dust-off and plan a grand return to a Mac-adjacent project.

I would love to complete my “Macintosh System watch cursor eInk desktop/shelf clock”, est. 2023 (!).

I have pretty extensive sketches, the parts I need (I think), and the graphical code. Missing a lot more.

Next year I should go to #FOSDEM!

I’ve negotiated a conference allowance at work, which I’ve not been using much..

And I haven’t set foot in Belgium in ~25 years (!) 🇪🇺

If I ever moved #Mastodon instances, my posts wouldn't transfer over (just redirect), and that's fine.

But I feel for photos (#Pixelfed) it's different. I'd really like my posts to come with me.

Maybe I need to think about this differently, everything is ephemeral and maybe that''s for the better (and I have the real copies). I also could self-host.

But for now it's why I'm hesitant to post on Pixelfed.social.

I had to install Acrobat Reader (who does this) for my passport renewal form.

1. It was 658 MB

2. It installed 3 background processes

3. It wanted to send notifications

I only got AIM back then to chat to Americans, haha.

In Canada, we mainly used ICQ, then everyone switched to MSN Messenger.

Mostly because it had a breakthrough feature: it saved your friends list on the server!

I’ve never been interested in #BambuLab machines from the moment I’ve realized they were closed, cloud-gated things.

And well, also that they came in and built closed stuff from everything open that existed in the #3Dprinting community, then underpriced everyone else.
