Today I caught a matinee of Nosferatu. To save you the trouble, just watch the Copolla version of Braham Stoker's Dracula, as this movie is a soulless, shot for shot remake that misses a compelling soundtrack and somehow puts Nicholas Hault in an unconvincing Harker role as well.

SO I went from no job for almost five months, to three offers in two days.

Here I am navigating how to decline the additional offers and keep that channel open.

I found a good solid programming path in DevOps that doesn't have me trying to make myself into an SRE shape, which ultimately wasn't a good fit, no matter how perfect the company was.

Anyone decline an offer and still keep the door open? Got advice?

The latest meme culture is copying the right-wing 2016 culture of "If I don't like something, I am calling it X"; in this case, the memes go, "I don't like something, so it's Hamas."

I am seeing it shared by people who somehow feel it appropriate to minimize the absolute terror that group has always brought.

I don't see an answer to this other than to hope somewhere in the future, people wake up and realize that anger and disgust at a super-power had easily been targeted toward Jewish people.

Another week has gone by, and I'm watching the anti-semitic behavior continue to take off from people who, before October 7th, would have never started repeating and sharing Jewish hate memes.

There is no excuse for the bombing in Palestine/Gaza to ever have escalated to this stage in the first place.

Happy New… year?

I had a doozy of a 2023. I left a toxic job for one that paid immensely more but tested my ability to self motivate or survive. After that, I was offered my dream job of working for NASA and as much as I wanted that to be my final spot, I wasn’t able to love what I was doing there and got the nicest firing I’ve ever had from a role.

I am ringing in NYE with my partner in my new home of New York and loving all the possibility of what’s ahead, jobs, life, and people.
