What I found really interesting is that my thought process was completely different to when I’m box modelling. Maybe it’s down to experience, but it consisted of me thinking “this is shit” right up until it was about 90% of the way there. Much more of an organic way of working.

I'm not much of a sculptor, haven't needed to for work and I've only fiddled around with the tools now and then. So, as clients have started breaking up for Christmas and things are nice and quiet, I thought it would be a good time to give it a proper stab with something simple. The front flippers still need some work, but it's getting there. #b3d #digitalSculpting #WhosThatPokemon

I guess my main gripe is that, even though I'm sure the filmmakers had the best of intentions, the resolutions to combat the evils of 'shopping' feel very weak. It's like blaming a knife for a murder while completely ignoring the murderer.

I'm not sure if it's because:
a) We can't imagine a world where we use a different system
b) People are biased against alternative systems that they do know (it seems like most Americans associate socialism with communism, which was heavily propagandised as "evil" during the Cold War)
c) It takes money to make films. Netflix probably likes capitalism and wouldn't pay for an anti-capitalism documentary.
Maybe all of the above 🤷

Watched a documentary last night on Netflix called Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy. It points at all of the horrible traits that are part of our Neo-liberal capitalistic system as the reason we're destroying the world, but it falls short by not highlighting the system as the cause specifically. It's more of a "if you want to make shit loads of money and don't care about people or the planet, this is how it's done" in a parody step by step training video style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVfZw_eqJW8

Very interesting to see how well the latest Apple chips fare for #b3d rendering. 1st page is all nVidia except for the M4 Max, a laptop GPU. Feels like when the Mac Studio gets the M4 Ultra, it'll be battling it out with the RTX 4090. Yes, it'll cost more than just the 4090 card, but having hundreds of GB available to the GPU in the form of the unified memory, it could be quite the beast. https://opendata.blender.org/benchmarks/query/?compute_type=OPTIX&compute_type=CUDA&compute_type=HIP&compute_type=METAL&compute_type=ONEAPI&group_by=device_name&blender_version=4.2.0

Could a Dogma 95 ethos be interpreted for animation? If so, how? Currently watching a Thomas Vinterberg film and it’s got me thinking.

Currently waiting on a Blender render, so I've spent the day digging into Rive. Really like the rigging tools, reminds me a lot of Moho. Think I'll continue to play early next week (it's a looooong render), see if I can come up with an interactive animation with this little fella.
