I just watched Lola, our black polydactyl kitty, open a cabinet door, hop in, and hang out for a minute before pushing the door open again and hopping out. What's next? Maybe she'll stand up to Rosie-the-dog.

Last night at the music festival, one of the emcees asked all the neurodivergent people to raise their hands (I didn't) and then (because she's a comic) proceeded to tell self-denigrating jokes about being bipolar and mania (I have bipolar 2 & hypomania, which looks like staying up until 3 am polishing stainless steel flatware). I'm still sorting out my thoughts on this and clearly still sorting through my feels about being bipolar.

Another rose but this one is in a garden in New Zealand - at least, I hope it's still there since the property has since been sold outside the family. (Which sound really rich coming from this US-ian but if I explained the history with husband's family, it's really not, I swear.) #bloomscrolling

This is an old photo from our old house on the other side of town. I love the contrast/coexistence of the snow and the moss.

Where is the hand for me to reach?

Where is the moral I'll never teach myself?

In all the black, in all the grief, I am redeemed

Oh, were all rotten and we're pure

And were just looking for the cure that feels like spring snow

And all we have is who we are

And where we've been got us this far, so let me go

Where is the hand for me to reach?

Where is the moral I'll never teach myself?

In all the black, in all the grief, I am redeemed

Where is the hand for me to reach?

Charlotte Martin - Redeemed

https://youtu.be/ulbPqPxK9L0?si=Guqnhd8_qWOWoFPu

Every tree has got a root

And every girl forbidden fruit and got her demons

And the path I chose to go, a different girl so long ago

I had my reasons

And shes in my head so loud, screaming

"Shouldnt you be proud of what you came from?

Oh, you've been crippled and you've walked on

You've been shut up and you talked, so lets talk some more"

The rain has finally turned to snow here. I needed to see flowers, maybe you, too?

It's time for Hot Jazz Saturday Night with Rob Bamberger on WAMU! I'm super glad this NPR station waived its top of the hour news summary, too. I feel like turning the lights off and alternating knitting & dancing by candlelight. https://wamu.org/show/hot-jazz-saturday-night

I grew up in a small Vermont town that's been a tourist town for ages. It's also home to a Rockefeller resort & now Vermont's only national park. You can imagine how embarrassing our town drunk and resident homeless person, Vilas, was to the upper crust of town society. When I was small I once mistook him for Santa as he was shambling down our picturesque streets - I remember it vividly along with my mother's laughter. Vilas was a contrarian and a rebel. 1/2

He had the New England accent often associated with Maine, though it's prevalent in New Hampshire and Vermont. He smelled bad, was always smoking, and rarely had clean clothes. When I was in my teens, he was known to buy alcohol for us if you slipped him enough to get some for himself. He was and still is a beloved legend. 2/2

I'm now happily trapped in my chair and covered with Jeff hair, and he's purring. After I took this he started hugging my right arm. We're having a cozy afternoon and I doubt I'll get anything done and it's not even Caturday.

Rosie-dog has taken over all the throw blankets in the family room - they're all hers now. She just ripped the tag off one and before I could say "No!" she swallowed it. 🤦‍♀️

Two weeks ago I told him he needed to plant them (it was his project & I didn't want to horn in & take it over). Well, he's been too busy to do it so tonight I planted 14 sprouts in little plastic cups and one yogurt cup. The cups are smaller than the usual black condiment cups that restaurants use & they're clear. They fit in another recycled container with a clear lid and sides. I'm excited to see how they do!

Just after Christmas we got citrus fruit from a local guy with a geothermal greenhouse that allows him to grow tropical plants here in zone 7a/b (we're sort of on the dividing line). Husband saved the seeds from them & layered them in wet paper towels in a sealed plastic bag to see if they'd sprout. They did!

I had a dream with my favorite French professor, @MPgh, in it last night about Paris, returning home after, and hanging out with him, his beloved Ken, & his friends at a giant flea market. It was lovely, though not as good as spending time with him IRL.

I love this ... text meme (is it still a meme? IDK ... anyway). I have it saved on my phone in my favorites to remind me to be present in the moment when I get carried away, worried, irritated etc. etc. Maybe you'll find it handy also? #sitTogether

This #WIPWednesday I'm working on the book cover and planning to go to a local needlework store in hopes they have silk thread that's finer than what I'm using, single plies of Pepper Pot Silk which is a 3-ply embroidery floss/thread. I don't often venture to that quaint part of the county and am hoping it goes well.

I'm embroidering and listening to Becky Chambers' A Psalm for the Wild-Built. I read the physical book a few year ago & got the audiobook for a road trip & then never listened to it. Cozy winter Sunday is cozy!
