Another one of my daily drawing practice pieces. I really like her 🖤 might give her some watercolor treatment when my hand has healed up (it's still looking like I'm developing a tendonitis but still hoping it goes away if a keep still for a couple of days)

Just ranting a bit because it would appear that I have a tendonitis developing in my wrist and I've a work in progress that I really like and I can't really do anything properly and it's so annoying. Gonna have to rest my right hand for a couple of days to see if it goes away on its own, if it doesn't I have to go to the doctors which I don't love either. Bodies can be so annoying #ArtRant #tendonitis

I chose a very big new drawing book (yes, perfect timing, I know 😅) and having full pages just takes more work.

Also some techniques are simply more time consuming (not to mention that I shouldn't be doing that pointillist thing anyway because of my shoulder 🙄).

I'm not yet sure if I'll adapt the rules, my technique or both, but the important thing is to learn and grow and that I will do regardless.

I am learning to reduce my sketching to a minimum (which is a necessary step in my growth as an artist, as I am a bad offender of endless, perfectionist sketching 😅) and the fact I have up to three days per piece keeps me from working deep into the night just to finish something I really like on the same day. Sometimes it's a good thing to change things up, old things run their course and a new direction is necessary to adjust to new circumstances.

So I took some time off over the holidays and came up with a new set of rules to reduce my stress level: some sketching allowed (just take care it's not too much, it WILL be visible on the end product) and up to three days per piece. So far it's going really well and I am already much less stressed about it. The chances of being able to use pieces professionally (and thus being less stressed in the rest of my professional work time) increase by a lot compared to "no sketching",

For more than two years I've been creating art daily by a set of rules: 1 per day, finish the piece, no sketching, do whatever you like, but do it. Recently I've observed my pieces getting more and more elaborate and me getting more and more exhausted, but also not willing to compromise with the quality of my work, even though my motivation to create was rapidly decreasing.
