I blame the cheapness of the C3PO action figure I was given as a child for why it is only today that I've learned only one of his legs is gold.

I don't usually bother putting up a Christmas tree so my brother brought his own when he came to visit for the holidays, now that I actually have room for it this year. He left the tree behind and I've today noticed a few of the neighbours have already taken theirs down.

When do you take down your Christmas tree?

Who waits until the 12th night?

Inside the Prophet X #synth is a mini ITX motherboard PC. Espen Kraft repairs his by basically treating it like a #retro computer.

https://youtu.be/rMMB0aYPhxY

Gosh, the price of the #ProphetX on Reverb (over £2000) convinces me that the best way to increase the value of my decade old Raspberry Pi's is to have them control an analog chain of VCO and VCF circuits and audio processing ICs.

No need to buy the Tracker Plus to get the additional synth engines when the latest Polyend firmware (1.9) for the OG Tracker adds 4 MIDI channels that I can use to send notes to a Raspberry Pi 2 MiniDexed box.

Hainbach talks to Jan St.Werner of Mouse on Mars and Peter Blasser of Ciat-Lonbarde about their "very unusual synthesizer. Rather than creating lush textures, it is meant to excite and play acoustic spaces. Clicker compresses and expands a rich spectrum derived from "Ringlers", a new take on Rob Hordijks "Rungler". Originally made for an exhibition it is now a standalone instrument."

I think I've successfully managed to solder and assemble the kit version of #Plinky (v3).

https://plinkysynth.com/

Calibration of the capacitive touch surface is a bit hit or miss. Only when the audio out was plugged into something that's grounded could I complete calibration without it popping up a "check solder connection" message.

Very expensive way to practice soldering. I'd recommend a 555 timer kit from Aliexpress instead.
