Enduring crushing levels of cringe going through my dusty-ass Twitter archive before I nuke it all but there are some takes I will absolutely still stand on.

PLASTIK_SPIELE, 2024

Cut & Paste Collage

Constructed from a German book on Greek sculpture (Griechische Plastik) and a Dutch book of family games (Het Gezin Anno 2000, De Gezelschapsspelen). A body broken, repaired and now emerging from the detritus of its past with a celebratory vibrance.

For no real reason other than to have this stop bothering my brain I am looking for a sci-fi children’s book that I do not remember the title of.

It features a group of children escaping from truancy enforcement robots I’m pretty sure they called “Snoopy Droops”, and contains the refrain “Snoopy Droops, Snoopy Droops can’t catch us ‘cause we got away on the 63 bus”.

I would have read this as a kid in New Zealand in around 1987/88, and I’m pretty sure it had a yellow cover, but this as all details above may be partially the hallucinations of childhood memory.

Does anyone have any idea what book I remember? Maybe it wasn’t a book but just part of some reader or in a compilation? Google has nothing, LLaMA doesn’t know, ChatGPT is just full of shit (wow, surprise, lol).

It seems to be just old and obscure enough that it hasn’t been indexed. That or I have made it up entirely (not impossible but doubtful as my writing generally does not include catchy jingles).

MEDS: Bile, 2016

520x697mm

Cut & Paste Collage

The backgrounds contain various functions and afflictions of the human body, rendered down in reductive black and white, oversimplified and augmented by system flow diagrams to what in some cases even becomes comedic effect. Further commentary potentially implied on the character of “modern” human existence is left as an exercise for the observer.

MEDS: Bone, 2016

520x697mm

Cut & Paste Collage

The bulk of the pages of this encyclopedia were printed cheaply, as evidenced by the variations visible in the saturation of the background colors. A considerable proportion of the printing budget appears to have been spent instead on the large full-color fold-out anatomical illustrations, which now also form the centerpieces of these works.

MEDS: Blood, 2016

520x697mm

Cut & Paste Collage

MEDS is a three-part series created from an old medical encyclopedia.

The backgrounds of the MEDS series are created from the sidebars, containing illustrations and information supplemental to the main articles. There are some strange goings-on in these sidebars if you look for them, the re-sequenced strips now a place to find new stories when read top-to-bottom.

So a despicable nerd and a despicable company are fighting and the collateral damage is an extremely widely used plugin that now represents a security risk to millions of sites, is that about it?

Can anyone point to a good summary of what in the everliving fuck is happening at/with Wordpress? I really, really don't want to have to give a shit about this, but need to take care of a bunch of legacy clients...

Lunorgania, 2017

210x287mm

Cut & Paste Collage

Sibling to Lunacopia, constructed using leftovers material from the same visual encyclopaedia. Whereas Lunacopia was more flora/lunar-themed, this collage moved both deeper outwards into space and along a different branch of the evolutionary tree into the bloody complexity of animal life.
