Going bouldering today of course did not remove anything from my to-do list.
But it felt good and even counts as socializing if you just squint a little.
Now I'm tired af and won't do anything productive either. But I'm getting better at recognizing things like sports and sleep as good things on their own.

As one does when feeling overwhelmed, I turned to to-do lists (again). Created a new one on Saturday.
By now I have created 25 entries and only finished 5. On the weekend. Where I'm supposed to have 'time'.
At this rate, this list will become a source of crippling dread by around mid-week, when I will drop it again to be rediscovered in a few weeks.
The cycle continues.

Just learned about @MakerTube
Maybe we'll ask for an account and copy the YT videos of @bytespeicher there?
(Basically because a private account will probably not have much content ..)

I hope this new influx of users to @pixelfed is also breathing new life into the 'stories' feature.
Sadly I don't think, @dansup will have time to improve the UX on mobile (non-existent?) and web (a bit hidden?).
Short-Lifetime photos/videos IN THE CONTEXT OF A USER is what I still miss from IG and what's not really covered by @loops

@ff3 Started up Firefly III to do the year-end roundup for 2024, but suddenly the .csv importer fails to authenticate towards the main app.
Did update Firefly and the importer and re-generated tokens as suggested here https://github.com/orgs/firefly-iii/discussions/8975 but no luck.
Any known issues around that problem?

I ask this periodically, but here we go again: Does anybody know a good introduction to #Typescript/#Javascript Web-development specifically aimed at people used to Application/Embedded programming in C/C++/Python/Java.
So probably not centered around syntax and language features (which come easy if you know other languages well), but on the toolchain and development flow.

The best thing about getting my wife's old 2012er MBP to use as a Linux machine is:
After a looong time with company-supplied HW this is the first time I'm allowed to put stickers on a laptop.
I'm unreasonably happy about that.

Has anybody (@cms maybe?) additional information about the firmware and the CAD files used at #38C3 in this workshop: https://events.ccc.de/congress/2024/hub/de/event/regenbogen-ring/ ?

So I've been handed down a MacBook Pro from 2012 and I'm converting it to a Linux machine for my tinkering use in the workshop and at the hackerspace.
Currently changing the keyboard and the fan and cleaning it and while disassembled, I've come to the conclusion that I don't have much need for the CD/DVD drive.
So hit me with ideas: what could I put in that extra space inside that aluminum unibody case?

Spent the morning doing ADHD, Autism and Depression tests.
I score various amounts of 'high' in all of them.
Thanks to the #38C3 meetups for putting me on that track. This probably lays out my 2025 new years resolutions then.

Looking for anyone at #38c3 with experience in building custom game controllers for arcade machines.
Especially Pinball machines.
Just drop me a DM and I come search for you. Already know about KingBBQ who did a workshop on the topic.

[#]38c3 shows that even extreme individualism, up to the point of personal anarchism where people stop conforming to even basic rules like gender, is in no way in contrast to community, self-organization and following self-emerging rules to the gain of all.
THAT's why I bring my kids here.

[#]38c3 as a parent: alarm went off at 3:45am, entered the cch at 10:30am with already pretty worn out kids. Organized workshops and supported them to keep them entertained, ultimately spending most of the time around the kidspace. Managed to get a rather quick walk through about 85% of the venue in, even met some people for a very quick Hello. Back to the hotel at 10pm after some minor meltdowns because there STILL wasn't enough screen time today.
But still: this went as expected and was great.

[#]38C3 personal preparation leaks: Found my old congress SIM cards to use in the GSM net. I even found old feature-phones to use them in (that still fit the miniSIM format).
What I did not find was chargers with old pre-usb coax connectors and arbitrary voltage.
I'm sure someone on-site can help.

[#]38C3 personal preparation leaks: prepared laptops for the kids to use for the Minecraft and Minetest workshops.
(Thanks @bytespeicher for the lend out)
Sadly now recognized that some use the Windows-only Minecraft Education edition that's so closely intertwined with the MS Store it won't even run with wine.
Have to find alternatives then. (For the schedule, not the Linux Laptops)

As someone completely untouched by artistic talent, I watch my kid's piano lessons with awe.
To be able to talk about a sound, they translate it to letters.
To be able to write it down, they translate again into notes.
To be able to play it they assign numbers to match to finger positions.
Then they finally find the position of the key.
Then they expect you to do these 4 transformations in a few milliseconds so you can play along.
