According to #deepseek, "The Universe is a bowl full of socks."

I was not asking about, bowls, socks or the universe. I was asking it to analyse the following haiku I wrote (maybe a haiku):

"I am the kestrel

Although I am tiny-ish

I eat mice with glee"

It instead analyzed a hallucinated poem, gaslighted me, admitted it hallucinated, then claimed authorship of my poem, seeking socks in a bowl as the universe.

For the first time an #AI has passed the Turing test, imho. The stoned test.

We rode #waymo, and yatta yatta the future, it is better than human drivers, mass unemployment, all that. It is 100% true #AI. But the opportunity #google is missing is to put a working dog in the driver's seat. Trained to be friendly, nice. Probably a calm emotional support Labrador. Americans will come out in droves to take a selfie and chuckle like idiots about our dog drivers and 💯 employment for working dogs. Google will need thousands of more cars. Don't @ me, you know it is true.

Where is the #Facebookmigration ? I left in 2017. But I note that #Facebook has for many become somewhere between an addiction, a teen girl killer, and otherwise similar to 1000s #scifi plots, like pod people kind of thing.

This is why I laugh and laugh and laugh at the majority of people who call themselves #digital #artists: they cling to Adobe subscriptions while Adobe uses their work to train generative AI to replace them.

I am two things: a digital artist who has advocated moving on to making new kinds of art and tools, for the last 30 years. I am also someone who does not subscribe to the very tools which #Adobe is using to obviate the very people who I have opposed.

Irony cuts all kinds of ways.

@alexskunz when did "creatives" become subjects of a paid subscription? I mean, maybe that is just the nature of humanity, maybe Hobbes was right all along and software has become the Leviathan's perfect means of control? Where the UI prescribes the form, the boundaries and the limits.

I feel vindicated for dumping scorn on the leadership of both sides of the #hamas #israel conflict. It is a religious war, everyone involved has earned their eternal shame, especially anyone who has taken a side. I grieve only for innocent civilians who have been under the hammer of #israeli actual #genocide, and the hamas aspirations to genocide. (#Dec7) #Halocaust museums now have to explain what "Never Again" really meant. What a total catastrophe for humanity.

Time to move on from post-mortem. In 2016, 24 I have made and readily agreed with much of the post-mortem analysis. Supported the obvious like Bernie winning polls and Clinton and Biden being essentially coin tosses. Now we are blaming a progressive black woman for Biden not getting out of the way in time. Got ya, see who you are. Back to caring for my students, making safe spaces for them and helping them into good grad programs, teaching them to be artists and technologists. And making art! 🎭

My new series explores a #LLM #AI #indirection hack of sorts. Can large language models produce pictures too? The answer (I find) is abstract and odd. This new, experimental technique "opens up" the AIs to representing uncomfortable topics, stepping around some guardrails. I am focusing on human-made disasters that have impacted me personally, or around which I developed my sense of environmentalism and outrage. #teia

The toxicity of past #nft and #crypto disasters have left the public as divided about these as we are over anything. It needs to be said, which I do as an artist, there ARE interesting and smart projects, ideas and substantial artists working the NFT space. I am going to start trying to work there. Guidelines for me are: teia.art and the tezos blockchain (#cleannft and honestly, the serious artists), gestures AGAINST the received tropes of art, and experimentalist frame. Something different this year, an impression not had since Obama ran his first presidential race, is that the Democratic party is running a competent campaign, all in, with their best candidate. I actually thank Joe Biden for his #boomer overconfidence and hubris in debating Trump so disastrously that it broke down the DNC intransigence and doubling down on a failed generation. Even if Democrats lose, there is still the pale hope that Trump will be #boomers final disgrace in the eyes of history.
